The food is great you get what you pay for, big portions, very nice and fast service the empanada is awesome and the cuban sandwich amazing a must if you are in town.
Good place to eat. Stopped in for a bite while passing through town. The cuban sandwich, empanada and papa rellena were satisfying. This place is definitely better than the typical offerings I’ve found in the surrounding area during previous visits to that part of Texas. I’d only like to caution them to make sure they keep all the ingredients fresh, even if it means making the menu smaller.
I decided to drive from Beaumont to try Tico’s Cuban Cafe after reading the many positive reviews. I have to say that I was not disappointed. Having eaten at many Cuban diners in Miami, Key West, and even in Houston, I was pleasantly surprised to discover that even in the small town of Bridge City there is a cafe with such a huge taste. I asked Orlando to recommend a few of their signature dishes. I started with the very traditional tostones with garlic sauce, a cup of to-die-for 17 bean soup, and a beef empanada. My dining companion ordered the Cuban sandwich and I had the vaca fritas as my main course. We enjoyed every single savory bite and just when I didn’t think I could ingest another morsel, Orlando suggested dessert. The pumpkin flan was creamy and had just the right amount of spice. I’m not normally a dessert eater but I was slightly offended when my friend ate the last bite of flan without even asking first if I wanted it!! Tico’s does not serve alcohol but one could BYOB. It was too late in the evening to try their Cuban coffee but now that I know about this place I will definitely be back for it. Overall, the dining experience was delightful and made me nostalgic for Miami. Orlando was knowledgable of Cuban cuisine and the service was top-notch. Two thumbs up for Tico’s!
Cole Johnson. I schedule appointments in Orange as much as possible just to swing by this place or have the other outside guy grab lunch on his way back to the office. It is one of the favorites. Albert and Orlando are great guys, and cook up some great grub. Better bring an appetite!! Portions are large and service is on point.
Great sandwich!!! I read the reviews and went with the Cuban sandwich. First off The bread is awesome! I love toasted sandwiches and this one really hit the spot ! It’s pork and ham with Swiss cheese, mustard and pickles. The waitress was very attentive and sweet! Bridge city doesn’t have many options for food so I’m thrilled I tried this place out! Definitely going back !
Cuban Sandwich. I have been wanting to try Tico’s for quite some time.(months) Today I was in Bridge City and pulled in with much anticipation as I had read the positive reviews. I ordered the Cuban sandwich to go. Short wait, big price. I dug into the french fries first, and found big, home style cut fries covered in what must have been a eight ounces of salt.Nice and crisp and salty, I tried to ignore the overdose of sodium and eat them in spite of being at risk of agitating my hypertension. Next I set my mouth ready for the beautiful roll with the lovely melted Swiss cheese and the beef and ham shaved meats. At least I think that is what it was. Far too juicy and I found that i should have wore a raincoat to shield myself from the downpour of grease and vegetable drainage. The sandwich would honestly have been better with just the bread and melted cheese as with the avalanche of meats and condiments. Now, two hours later, I am dealing with the warm afterglow of acid indigestion, which I only rarely experience. Don’t get me wrong. Some people will doubtless love this sandwich. It has a lot going for it. But for me, A poor boy from any of the traditional sandwich shops/delis will be my preference in the future. And I will have spent less for the sacrifice of an exotic store name or ambience.23 Feb, 2012Tico’s Salt Avalanche. The Cuban sandwich was very good. If you’re in the area and are hungry (the sandwich is very large) stop here, you certainly won’t leave hungry!
