I struggled for a second with my rating on this place…to go 3 or to go 4…let’s discuss why I went with 4.The food was good, but I don’t know that it was anything special. I ordered the flank steak with enchiladas and it tasted pretty good, but was lukewarm by the time it showed up. Usually, at Mexican restaurants, the plate and the food on it are so hot that the server warns you. Our group was pretty big and it didn’t seem like there were many cooks in the kitchen, so I understand that they’d have to go a few at a time but it was still a bummer that it didn’t show up warmer. It wasn’t cold, just not hot. Everyone I was with liked the food, though, and after trying the mole I’d say it was among the best I’ve had. The food was reasonably priced…some people have said it’s expensive, and I disagree with that, but it wasn’t a great bargain either. We showed up during happy hour (4-9 on weekdays!) and were treated to gigantic $2 margaritas. They weren’t terribly strong but were a lot stronger than I’d expect them to be at $2 a piece. The cheap drinks, combined with the fun service we received, bumped this into 4-star territory. Our server was courteous and helped us interpret the all-Spanish menu. He seemed to have a great feel for how often to check on us, and our glasses were never empty. It’s worth checking out if you’re in the area. Given that I’m the only one whose food was lukewarm, and the quality of the service, I wind up at 4 stars.
