This amazing restaurant fills a culinary void in the DFW area. You can find a taco stand every 10 feet, but Caribbean food is sorely underrepresented.
Great food. I’m Puerto Rican from NY and I have been missing this kind of food. Definetly will go again!
Was looking for a Caribbean cuisine place in central N Dallas area, and Caribbean Cafe popped up. The US reviews spoke highly of the food, and Caribbean Cafe did not disappoint. We started w/ the Ceviche de Camarones, which included carrots and yucca along w/ traditional avocado, red onion. Delightful. I had the house salad, arroz moro (black beans w/ rice and spices–very flavorful), and the yucca con moro (yes, yucca in another style besides frita. This is a rarity among Latino restaurants, Very good.) Dinner compadre had bistec encebollado, red beans, and plantains tostones, which they said was all authentic and tasty.Service was okay. Neither stellar nor horrible. Waitress was genuinely friendly and good overall, just a little intermittent at times (leading to empty drink glasses). If you are an enjoyer of TexMex, and would like to see what authentic Latin cuisine is and how it wonderfully differs from TexMex, stop by this unobtrusive place and find out. You’ll see how food can have great flavor and depth–via spices and preparation, as opposed to sauces and cheeses.
I was very pleasantly surprised at this find. Food was outstanding. I had the garlic shrimp with fried plantains and white rice and black beans. Delicious. Service was good. If you’re looking for something different but very good, this is the needle in a haystack. Highly recommend!
Authentic Cuban!. My husband is originally from Miami and loves Cuban food. We were in Ft Worth for the weekend and had to eat Cuban. We were so happy to find this place. The decor is great and the food is even better. The Tostones are to die for and the homemade mojo was phenomenal. My husband had the vaca frita and his only complaint was that he didn’t get to eat more of it! The desserts were delicious too. I had the guava turnover and it was delightful. I highly recommend eating at least one meal here.
WOW!!!. Everything was awesome – everything! The waiter told me this is a family business. We all ordered different entrees and sides – and all of if was so good! There was a lot of sharing going on…I grew up in Miami – this far surpassed all my hopes and expectations. Try the Roast Pork!
Best authentic cuban rest in the metroplex. They do as good as possible with what is available. As close to home cooked meal as it gets. Bistec empanizado is as good as I’ve ever had and that includes the one made by my mom, rest back home in Puerto Rico and even Miami restaurants.
