Mixed bag food; poor service. The poor service is more than enough to make my vote emphatically negative, however. As far as the food goes, there is plenty you can take or leave; unfortunately for us, the meal started fine then went downhill fast. The arepas were good–moist and crumbly without being fried to oblivion. The spicy and sour relishes were a treat. Fruit juices were clean-tasting and refreshing, but overpriced at $5 a pop. Husband and I had the vegetarian plate for the main course. Let us face it–Latin food is very animal protein-centric and I knew this, but we were not in the mood for meat today. That said, a restaurant is only as good as their weakest offering, as far as I am concerned. And dinner was bad. The kitchen would not boil plantains instead of fry them like I asked, even though I thought I communicated this to the server (which probably means they are not prepared fresh), yucca was horrendous (dry and mealy), rice was way too salty, beans were boring and the corn cake was not prepared nearly as well as in the appetizer.Server took the check after payment while we were still there. Only the second time in my life that has happened. In no hurry to attend to us, yet very willing to let us out. *Shrugs*…you need not tell me twice; they will not see us again.

May be my favorite place to eat in the state of Texas! Great food and good service. Only disappointment is that soup is only served on weekends and the most famous Colombian soup Ajiaco is only served one Sunday a month.

Well overall this place isn’t so bad. The food is good but not great. but if you have the cravings for colombian food this place would do it. My fav Hugo de maracuya. It’s made from real fruit! It’s deli.

Great Food, Great Service. Well worth the step out of your comfort zone. While the strip center does leave the gringo in doubt, one step inside the door of Casa Vieja removes it. It’s a warm and friendly family-run restaurant, and the fact they care is obvious. During our Thursday night visit, there was a buffet party going on and a few group gatherings. Even so, our service was prompt and helpful. My empanada appetizer that was fantastic, especially with one of the salsas piled on. My husband selected a small variety sampler of crispy plantain, chorizo and deep fried yucca. The fried yucca was amazing! My husband got the shish kabob of beef, chicken and pork (chuzo mixto): very good! I got the sobrebarriga en salsa criolla. They were both good though my brisket was a bit over-cooked and stringy, yet somehow managed to still be moist and tasty. The portions are large. We brought home over half our food and didn’t have room for dessert. This food, for any who are concerned, was not spicy, though the red salsa will add some heat. Next time maybe I can talk honey into sharing a plate so we can check out the desserts. It’s a bit of a drive for me, but I’ll definitely go back someday. Give it a try!

Authentic Columbian Food. Love it. My friend is from Columbia and said this is the real deal! He said this is the closest thing to his mother’s home cooking he’s tried in the US. The food is excellent. Great music on weekend nights and large screened tv’s for soccer season.

I am hooked,. This is one of my favorite places to eat @ 1927 E. Beltline Rd. Suite 152, Carrollton, TX. 75006. I take everyone there at least once and then they keep going back and so do we. If you want to try another place go to Gloria’s for the best Salvadoran flavor at 600 W. Davis, Dallas, TX 75208. I give both of these restaurant’s a 5 out of 5 stars. Go one day to either one and find out for yourselves. Enjoy!

If you’re sick of Tex-Mex give the Colombian food at Casa Vieja a chance. Today I had the Picada and it was great. I will be back to try more of the menu.
