Well I was really excited to try this little place. I’ve been wanting to try columbian food for quite some time. I was kind of disappointed to say the least. The service was SLOW. I never got a refill the entire time I was there, and the server was just so loopy it almost made us uncomfortable. I ordered the tamale. I have to say I was so excited to try and got let down, there were massive chunks of bone in them from the meat they used. The plantain and yucca were by far the best things I tried. I wouldn’t necessarily go back based on the experience I had today. the food also a little pricey for what it’s worth.

Very Original & Authentic. Looking for a new Mexican/Latin restaurant to try, we ventured to Carrollton to try Casa Vieja. Not fluent in Spanish, we waited a few minutes for an English speaking server, but were still seated rather quickly. We started with a Chicharron appetizer, which is essentially like Thick-Sliced Fatty Bacon. The entrees we selected were De Carne & Pollo Kebab, Mini Bandeja Paisa, Bistec a Caballo con Huevos, and Tamal Tolimense. The steak with the Bistec was a bit tough, but the Kebab Meat was marinated and full of flavor. The Mini Bandeja was good size portion and also very good. The meats in the Tamal were especially good and the Rice, Cornmeal and Banana Leaf wrapping made this a real comfort food. Casa Vieja is definitely being added to our list for when we’re in the mood for something a little different from the norm. diningoutdfw.com
