Updated Renovation – New Look. I stopped in today for my favorite chicken platter. I was surprised to see it newly renovated. The wood flooring is more rustic. The pictures on the wall have been replaced by a full sized mural. The order counter is nicer, but more rustic. It’s a good look. The plastic off-white plates have been replaced with a cowboy tin platter. I suppose it’s more like a wagon trail campfire serving dish. As always, I enjoyed my juicy chicken breast.03 Apr, 2014Nice Change of Pace Good Food. I like Cowboy Chicken to switch it up once in awhile. I always get the low cal Chicken Platter with Ranchero Beans. I love the smell of the chicken cooking on the wood fired rotisserie. Today they were switching out fulling cooked ones while I was ordering…awesome smell. The grilled chicken always has the nice grill char marks that add a smokey flavor. The meat tastes good, but is just slightly on the dry side. I love the spicey ranchero beans.
Excellent chicken. The place even smells good. But the chicken wings are the best things you ever ate. After they cook on the rotisserie they fry them for just a second. Unbelievable!
The food is very overpriced to start. The chicken is so so salty and dried out. I had heard good things so my wife and I decided to try it. The Mac and cheese was flavorless dry and a paste like consistency. The chicken was dry and loaded with salt. The beans also lacked flavor and 20 plus dollars later we both decided never to darken their doors again. We visited twice and the second visit convinced us there is zero quality control. Save your money.
Thought the food would be better. Grilled chicken breast was cold. Black eyed peas were so salty, I could not eat them. Potato was okay. They use way too much Salt! Won’t go back!
I really wanted to like it…. But the chicken was almost too dry to eat. The drumsticks were nearly jerky, the chicken breast was just dry. Even the thighs, which should have been nearly impossible to destroy, we’re tiny, sad, dried out husks of themselves. We had Mac and cheese and the twice baked potaters. The one saving grace was the mac and cheese, which is NOT just noodles in some velveeta product, it tastes like honest to goodness cheddar. The potatoes were fine, but nothing I’d order again. the chocolate chip cookie was pretty good too. This was my first visit. It was a super slow Tuesday night at 5 pm (not that that excuses dried out rotisserie chicken when that’s your THING), but I’d give them one more shot, because I was really hoping for an alternative to Boston Market. The seasonings on the chicken were quite tasty, but even well seasoned chicken skin wasn’t enough to save the chicken meat.
Greatness. I wish this place wasn’t so close to my office… So good. Do it.
Go for taters and cobbler. Everyone I know is crazy about this place. I like it, but I don’t feel the need to go more than a couple of times a year. The barbecue chicken is great, but the enchiladas everyone raves about were far too sour and disappointing. Mostly I just enjoy their side items, (mac n cheese and twice baked taters) and their peach cobbler. diningwithdeliajo.com
