I really like this family-owned restaurant! Best tortilla soup ever! Lots of chicken, cheese, and delicious avocado, plus yummy vegetables! Bean & cheese nachos also very delicious! Very flavorful refried & borracho beans! However, I ordered a platter with a cheese enchilada & Carne Asada & it wasn’t very good. I was surprised at how the cheese enchilada sauce lacked flavor (salt). The Carne Asada was overlooked & chewy.
Ok food. Not the best Mexican food I’ve had but it’s satisfactory. Kinda dark inside.
My wife and I love to try new and unique food. We will go out of our way to eat at a mom and pop shop than any franchise or chain restaurant. Plato Loco is just that, we are visiting Waxahachie for our second time and have made it a goal to try authentic Tex Mex…and I believe we did! This place was wonderful. We had a wonderful chat with the young man who served us and who informed us that Plato Loco is a family owned and operated restaurant and that most of the extended family works there. We started with the battered avacados which are fried and served with a queso sauce. My wife ordered the chimichanga grande with chicken and I ordered the El Preaidente platter which was insanely big. The food was so delicious. I am honest when it comes to food and am certainly a critic and hard to please, and I left this place happy and was genuinely impressed with everything there. Please go if you have the chance.
The Ward Family. The years we have been going there its ben wounderfol the food is graet and the staff is also great my husbend and I get the presidente plate it is so good!! Also my kids enjoy going there and let me tell you my kids are very picky where we go out to aet as a famly the always ask us if we could go there. Well anyways the food is great you git what you pay for!!
Excellent Saturday Night Dinner. Plato Loco recently opened a location in Waxahachie (about 30 minutes south of Downtown Dallas) and it is EXCELLENT! I went with my husband and some friends for a birthday party. This location has a separate room with a bar and televisions to enjoy a laid back dinner. Upon arrival we were greeted with a smile by the owner and the waitstaff. I know it is something small but it made us feel welcomed, especially considering the restaurant was very busy. Although the restaurant was busy, the owner made sure we were seated as quickly as possible and immediately given chips and hot sauce to calm our stomach rumbles. In less than two minutes our waitress (I believe her name was Ashley) greeted us and recommended a Top Shelf Margarita on the rocks. My husband and I went with the margarita and our friends went with the $2 happy hour draft beer. Our margaritas were sensational! And they were not the typical restaurant margaritas. They were served in a 16 oz. glass as opposed to a wannabe Martini glass. My first taste of the margarita was a perfect combination of Patron Tequila, Grand Marinier, and fresh squeezed lemon and lime. Absolutely delicious! For appetizer we couldn’t pass up the Buttermilk Battered Avocado Slices. This appetizer was an odd way to try avocado. It was warm and flaky and served with a side of queso for dipping. I would have never thought of this combination but it worked perfectly. For our entrees we shared the Fajitas For Two (which were on special). It was more like Fajitas for Four. We ordered Beef and Shrimp Fajitas. The shrimp was succulent and the beef was prepared to perfection (not overdone and not too tough). the other couple that was with us ordered the Burrito Maximo (the name alone was too much food for me). Weighing in at 2 pounds it had this greenish sauce drizzled on top. I found out it is their signature Diablo sauce. I asked the manager (which came to find out was the owner) for the recipe and all she agreed to tell me was a cream cheese jalapeno sauce. Our other guest ordered the Brisket Tacos. The portion was way too large for the price. I felt as if I was robbing the restaurant. The brisket had the most unique taste I have ever had. My guess is what it would taste if I was to travel to the heart of Mexico and visited a barbecue. 🙂 I would recommend this restaurant to anyone and everyone around. The food was exceptional and the service was superb. In my opinion, visiting Plato Loco is something no one should pass up!
Very Good. I had the Chicken Chimichanga with Queso. Very good and very reasonably priced. My meal, without rice/beans/drink was $6. The chips and salsa – what can I say but YUMMY?!!?I will be back.
