Disappointed. Visited a few times with a couple of issues in the past. However, today ordered tacos. The shredded cheese was bad. Asked one of the waiters to smell it, he did not want to at first but after my insistence, the smell made him snap back his head. The solution was providing me with 2 additional tacos without cheese (I had eaten part of the food). By then, started loosing my appetite. I was able to finish the plate by scraping off most of the ingredients. The worse of the experience is to discover the owner was present at the time of the issue. No apologies from the owner, nor from the chef (or they claim they have one). Later after discussing with the waiters the poor decision of letting food out without verifying (a very simple smell test) food quality, I found out the person sneaking out the side entrance was the owner. Absolutely pathetic! The only time I will interact with this place again is if I confirm having food poison, which now I have to wait 48 hours to know, the ownership better be prepared.

Try the cilantro enchiladas!. We just moved to Katy and were looking for a Mexican restaurant near our new home. We tried El Asador on a Tuesday. It was just around the corner. They had $1 dollar margaritas which were really good, and a great value. The menu was enormous. They have so many options. We have been back probably four times, and so far my favorite is the cilantro enchiladas with pork. The plating in nicely done, and the food is delicious. They are very accommodating for families with small kids. My two year old loved their tortillas and had a great time playing with the little wax straws they provided. They also had FREE kids meals on certain days. The three of us can go and have a great meal without spending a lot of money. And we always take home leftovers. They always have some kind of promotion: $1 margaritas, Coupons for free appetizers, a discount if you bring in a church bulletin on Sundays, and so on. There seems to always be something. Try the cilantro enchiladas and have a margarita or two.
Great Katy addition!. We noticed that a new Mexican restaurant had made an appearance in Katy and thought we would give it a try. We were glad we did! We came for dinner and were pleased with everything. The food was very good and there was plenty of it. Prices are reasonable and service was good. The atmosphere is casual but tasteful. The music wasn’t too loud (a particular pet peeve of my wife’s). Our daughter was happy that they provided a little package of wax wiki six instead of the same old crayon pack. Very pleased!
