I am so sorry I didnt take any pictures of my tasty jalapeo burger on jalapeo bread – Ill go back! Fries were seasoned perfectly too – we went with a church group 30 people took a little time to get our order complete but all the food came out on time everyone was amazed as to the size of the salads, pasta, soup (all hand made daily) – onion rings were huge! I will come back for the gumbo!

We have so many restaurants from which to choose in Houston, it can often get overwhelming. A large number of these have a single location but some have branched out, opening two or more locations and taking advantage of the consistent population growth to the fullest. One that just spread its wings in a southerly direction is Texas Borders, with this new location near Fulshear.Texas Borders took over this space from another restaurant and my kids were happy to see the playground equipment from the previous restaurant still in place. This is a nice little extra attraction for those with youngsters and, coupled with the outdoor seating, is great when you want to avoid the stuffiness of indoor air. The inside also has private meeting rooms and an arcade for entertainment. With the food, the menu is the same as that of other Texas Borders, featuring American style grub. My experience with food at Texas Borders has been less than stellar and this location continues the trend. I ordered beef quesadillas and found them quite bland overall, in desperate need of added seasoning or at least something interesting to dip them in. The other food we ordered was about as good, but I was told that the chili fries were a notch better than average.Service at this Texas Borders could stand to be improved. The food took too long to arrive at our table and we were greatly annoyed when we ordered an extra serving of fries and had to wait so long to be served, only to discover that the fries were cold. Perhaps there are some growing pains taking place here and they will improve in the future, but the situation as it stands is less than satisfactory. There is one bright spot for this Texas Borders, and that would be the beer selection. They have made great strides to include more beer options than in the past and the emphasis on local brew is most welcome. About half of the taps were dedicated to local beer, plus they even had a few options from outside of town that you dont usually see at most area restaurants. Its nice that Texas Borders is expanding, I guess, but it would be even nicer if they would improve the food and service. They have come a long way in food quality compared to the days when they had one location off of Fry road, but they still have a ways to go if they want to compete with the best eateries in the Houston area. greatbeernow.com
