In general I’d say you’d want to order one of the specialty items here to make it worth your while, but be prepared to spend some serious cash. Elk was on the menu along with various fish dishes and I will say they looked quite appetizing. Not wanting to spend a small fortune, my wife had the Grilled Chicken Breast with Squash and other vegetables (not many though). I had Chicken Marsala, which tasted great, but wasn’t at all what I expected. I’ve never had it prepared quite like this, very basically a miniature half chicken breast with brown mushroom gravy. It also included a small amount of the same vegetables. Typically Chicken Marsala is a pounded white meat, this was a full (albeit small) chicken breast with bones and skin. Now again, I will emphasize, it did taste really good. But, besides almost choking on one of the bones, it wasn’t really enough to keep me from leaving hungry. To be fair, they did offer dessert and we saw huge pieces of cake brought to another table, we certainly would not have left hungry after that! The worst part was the check, without dessert… $110 for 2 for what we might have gotten else where for under $40. Yes, we had a couple of cocktails, too… small and expensive. The restaurant does appear busy, this was my second time inside, but the parking lot is constantly full. Inside the nicely renovated Taco Bell seems tight weaving through the tables to the back room and yet there were several relatively large groups of 6 or more. We heard customers talking about being regulars, so obviously many like it. It will need to be a special occasion for us to return, but I am pleased to see it doing well since it is something fairly unique to Colleyville.
Quaint & Cozy Little Place with Good Food. Next is an interesting little place. There is not much to the decor, but the small space with a wall of wine racks is appealing. The small wood fire oven behind the bar adds ambiance. I like the look of this place. Expect a spaced out and long dinner. The server is extremely knowledgeable of the menu. He was able to explain all the specials in detail. He answered our questions fully. I was surprised at the sloppy dress of the servers. Messy/dirty aprons and tennis shoes do not fit a $$$$ restaurant. Our food was really good. The ravioli was fabulous. So was the pear flat bread. The beef wellington was good, but not great. My main issue with this place is pricing. The Beef Wellington was $38. The fish special was $39. Between the four of us we had four glasses of wine, three appetizers, two entrees and one dessert. Our tab with tip was $230. That’s really pricy. I did give this place a thumbs up because I liked the atmosphere and appetizers. I would probably skip the entrees next time.
Always a Favorite. This is a go-to place for me. Great food, friendly staff, immaculate restaurant and an excellent wine & beer list. Not just another restaurant. They take great care to bring only the best to their clients. The chef creates new dishes often keeping it fresh. Lunch for 2, Sunday brunch, dinner or even a special event NEXT is special.
