I really enjoy Coal Vines. This was my first visit to this location. The vibe is the same as the uptown location but this one is much larger. Thank goodness because it’s quite popular and we got seated with no wait on a Saturday night. Order the hearts of romaine salad and Hubby and I shared a large pepperoni pizza. We had 2 slices leftover. The salad was very fresh and I loved the lemony vinaigrette dressing. I would’ve preferred my salad to arrive as an appetizer rather than with the pizza, but perhaps the waiter thought that was my entree, even though it was a dinner sized salad. Their pizza is very tasty and the atmosphere is nice with live music outside. It was 100 degrees and we were a little warm since they had the patio sliding doors open so seating could spill into the patio and those patrons wouldn’t be so broiling hot. I can’t blame them for wanting to extend the seating options since they are so popular and need the additional space.
We were on our way to see Star Wars and stopped at Coal Vines for a bite to eat beforehand.Om: Weve been here a few times before, and each time I have walked away thinking that they serve up the best pizzaand this time was no exception. The restaurant gives an uptown kind of vibe, complete with wine glasses and painted murals, so you know you will be getting a more upscale experience. We ordered garlic bread for an appetizer, and though it seemed very basic, the taste was great and some of the best Ive had. We then ordered a large cheese (for the kids) and a large meat pizza. This is one of those places where they are the best at something, but I dont know why! The taste of their pizza is the best Ive hadbut their crust doesnt really stand out, Ive seen more toppings piled on at other pizza places, it wasnt really cheesybut the combination of everything made for an outstanding tasting pizza! The synergy of ingredients was amazing! Not to mention that the price was very fair. Neat atmosphere, good value, quality service, and best pizza…top marks from me!!Nom: Yep, they are the best!! Its such a beautiful restaurantdark and light at the same time, with wonderful dcor including the murals! It definitely has an uptown vibe but the food is not pretentious its just outstanding! I had a piece of the garlic bread and wow it was nice and soft and cheesy. Once in a while you get some garlic bread that you dont want to dip in the marinara. This is one of those places! We ordered pizza for the kids, a large cheese and a pizza for us, a large meat pizza! The kids demolished the cheese pizza so I didnt have a slice of it but I did have a slice of the meat pizza and its a good balance of meat, cheese and sauce. I do like the crust, Ive had better crusts but I do like theirs! Its not like you say WOW outstanding toppings or look at all that cheese. They really make an amazingly well balanced and flavorful pizza! For two pizzas, garlic bread and drinks it was a good value at right around $50! Cant wait to go back with my handsome love!!!!
I really like how open and breezy this restaurant is, and when they have live music like last night, which was excellent! The atmosphere is also nice. I wasn’t very impressed with the pizza, but I did like the garlic bread. I might need to explore pizzas, because we had a white sauce that was rather bland and flavorless, and while the spicy sausage was quite good, I wasn’t as big of a fan of the slightly soggy crust. I’d definitely hang out here for drinks and appetizers. The service was also friendly and great. My water was always filled before I finished. trendydallas.com
Years ago when the 1st one opened on Cedar Springs it was so popular the waits were astronomical. These days, gourmet pizzas have come a long way in Dallas. Pizza was good here but not great. It was fun to check out the Addison one bc it was next to Look cinemas. There were a few touches like the powdery Parmesan instead of fresh grated reminded me of fast food chains. But the wine list was definitely a step above many places. Loved the craft beers they offered too. The Addison crowd was much older than the hipster Uptown crowd. And there was still a little wait. ittybittyfoodies.com
