We had a nice weekday breakfast. The Texas themed interior and slow diner atmosphere itself was worth the stop. I ordered a pecan pancake – and it was great with coffee and a side of chili ^^ The sourdough toast and peach jelly was also delicious! But… the price makes it only a one time sort of place for me 🙂 Real meat (pork) lovers could probably add this to their keepers list though.

Simple comfort food and friendly atmosphere. Good place of you are running low on time, but want a sit-down restaurant. I ordered the tuna salad sandwich–ingredients were very fresh. The chips and salsa were also very good. Definitely will keep this one on the list of nearby lunch places.

I wanted to like it. I had the number two for breakfast. The pancakes were good, the coffee was good, everything else was just okay. No need to rush back. We were dissapointed because we love Deep Ellum.

Not a lot of reasons to go back…. Decent, simple, food in a casual diner and bar. Not a bad choice for an affordable, home style meal, but we’re talking pretty basic…Main complaint was the sanitation, especially the bathrooms.Easy, metered street parking. Service was fair.

Not worth it… We waited 20min before being able to order. the food is ok but not better than a fastfood except that we had to wait longer and pay more.

All good would be a decent place if it weren’t for the insufferable rudeness of the staff. It’s almost as if owner Mike goes out of his way to attract the most self-righteous yet lackadaisical servers in Dallas. I suppose he likes to hire those who share his own attitude. I think the early good reviews went to everyone’s head and they seem to think that their clients should feel privileged to have been let through the door.Food is on the better side of average. the only thing that the place really has going for it is it’s support iof live and local music on the stage- but be prepared to pay a cover on top of the price of your meal if you plan to arrive early and eat before a show, unless you like being rudely asked to leave. Avoid. There is better food, better service, and are far better music venues available in Deep Ellum than this.

Underwhelming Experience. Finding ourselves in Dallas with time to kill on a Saturday morning we decided to seek out the Allgood Cafe based on it’s TV exposure for having great bacon. We arrived at 9AM – opening time and had to wait another 10-15 minutes while the staff leisurely prepped for opening before the doors opened. The decor is early head shop poster but unimportant if the food had been remarkable. I ordered 2 eggs scrambled and a side of bacon. My wife ordered the #2 breakfast with pancakes, 2 eggs scrambled and bacon. The eggs on both our meals were slightly overcooked dry and rubbery. The pancakes were doughy and dense. The bacon, which we hoped would be the main attraction was very disappointing. It was overdone, hard and the flavor was at best average. I do not believe it was baked as advertised, particularly for the first order of the day. I also ordered coffee and received a 2/3 full cup of coffee and was never asked if I wanted a refill. All in all I would have rather gone to Denny’s or a Waffle house. I don’t know if it has changed hands since the 2010 TV reviews but the reviews seem to have gone steadily downhill since 2012. Don’t believe the hype and give this one a pass. If it ever had some glory days they are long past now.
