We were driving around the Design District and looking specifically for a non-chain Mexican restaurant with margaritas. So glad we stumbled upon this place. It has an trendy but elegant ambiance, and the staff was friendly and helpful. It’s not inexpensive, but it’s honestly good enough that you don’t feel like you were ripped off. My wife and I split the Tacos al Pastor with a side of Elotes plus 2 margaritas each, and our tab with tax and gratuity was $80. It’s not in my opinion a weekly place, but it’s a 2 or 3 times per year type place! I would definitely take out of town friends there for the pricy but delicious Black Margarita!!!
Passing thru Dallas and decided to stop for a small bite and coffee. Definitely a good find. We decided to share a slice of Lord of the Pies and a Basic Beach. Basic Beach was a nice lighter alternative to the traditional pastry pie but the Lord of the Pies was truly King. Great pastry with a delicious apple cinnamon streusel. Bring an appetite!! And someone to share with.
This place by far has the best dessert I have had in my life. The only thing this place does is pies and that’s the only thing they need to do. The pies are a little pricey but are worth every penny. Each bite is pure awesomeness in your mouth. I had their Lord of the Pies (apple pie) and their pumpkin pie. I had the apple pie with ice cream which was phenomenal and definitely worth the up charge. The staff is very friendly and takes the time to explain each pie to you. The place has a cozy feeling but at the same time its tiny and depending when you come you may have to wait a long time. Nevertheless I promise this place will not disappoint!
Popular pie shop, located next door to the even more popular Pecan Lodge. We were a bit cheeky and while one of us queued for Pecan Lodge, we took the opportunity to pop next door. It’s a quaint little cafe with wrought iron chairs and tables outside. There was a small queue but the time quickly passes while you admire the pies. Should have tried one but only picked up a takeaway brew.
