Just had the strangest restaurant experience at Charlies. Arrived around 3:00 and was the only person in the place. Placed my order, enjoyed my meal. Waiter asked if I would like more water, I said yes, and he filled my cup. Then took away my plate. After that…. I waited 15 minutes to get my check. Two other families came in, placed their order and got their meals, and I still didnt have my ticket. Plus the waiter never looked my way. It was really weird. I finally had to flag him down so I could pay. No exaggeration- 15 minutes. Food was decent. I feel that I should have tried something non Tex Mex. most reviews talk about the ribs or steaks. I had cheese enchiladas. They were actually pretty good, but nothing out of the ordinary. Beans were average. As far as the salsa? It seriously tasted like ketchup. In the end I will probably give it another chance, as anyone can have an off day.

Food is excellent; just had one of their low cal plates-grilled salmon, cooked perfectly, veggies as well. Love their house salad and dressing. The restaurant itself could use a simple remodeling- interior and exterior paint, new or repainted table and chairs, etc.-looks dated.
Crispy were insanely good! Atmosphere is authentic (whatever that means). Prices are reasonable. A must if you are in Laredo. Don’t be put off by the decor. Yum!

Original dining. Food is great. service is good. steaks are done right here They are not brought to your table on sizzling plates that finish cooking your steak to well done like you hate and then you have to ask for steak sauce to save it. Here you get your steak like you ask for it.
