El Capataz is truly a rare gem in the Laredo area. So far I’ve tried the El Capataz burger (with chorizo melted swiss cheese!), the Torta Ahogada (comes with a great crema agria drizzle), and the grilled chicken and cheese sandwich (complemented by a fantastic jalapeno-red onion dipping jam). The food doesn’t disappoint. A really delicious alternative to the typical Tex-mex/regional and northern Mex fare. I recommend.
Food still excellent and service has improved considerably since my last visit.servers, hostesses, and managers a lot friendlier and more engaging since my last visit. I will be going more often to this restaurant.29 Jan, 2013Food is excellent as is the atmosphere. My only issue with this restaurant is that the servers need to be friendlier and engaging. This guy seemed like either he didn’t want to be there or that he was doing us a favor. He brought our orders quickly, but wanted to bus our table while we still had food on the plate. A smile and a little conversation go a long way, especially if you are in the service industry.
User reviews. I really liked the environment and ambiance of this place. The food was very well made and i also really enjoyed the margarita!
Worst hostess ever, very rude and acts like if she is doing you a favor
Really …… I was invited by friends to joined them at El Capataz. It’s a nice little place and was surprise to see an older crowd. The food I guess depending what you order is so-so. One of my friends ordered a small salad and for the price it was expensive especially since all it had was lettuce. I get a better side salad at Wendy’s and it’s less than 3.00. I ordered the cheesecake jarrita and again for the price it was expensive. Also the fruit was not exactly fresh. Also servers need more practice how to give good customer service. The one we had acted like he was doing us a favor. Not very pleasant nor informative in recommending items.
Really like it here!. With the exception of my first visit when it first opened, I have received great service here. The waiters are solicitous and helpful when dividing up tabs. Favorites include the Capataz Burger and the hand packed cheesecake with berries.
Grilled Chicken Pibil Sanwich and Capataz Fish & Chips and pints of Dogfish, Service was very fast and food was on the table within 30 minutes of orderiing. All began with a Queso Borracho and jalapeos Jorge. Favors and textures rocked. The manager Luis and his crew just keep getting better and better!30 Mar, 2012El Capataz burger and the Tortas Ahoaga we’re great. Pints of Alaskan Ambet and Woodchuck Apple Cider from the microbrewery with our cigars finished of the evening. My favorite night spot in Laredo!23 Dec, 2011Awesome microbrewery and atmosphere !
