We walked Main Street, downtown Dallas and decided to have dinner at the Dallas Chop House. Mainly because I loved almost everything on their menu. I choose the clam chowder, which was rich and lovey, yet not too heavy on the cream and an appetizer, steak tartar, as a main. This dish too was very good and the presentation was very well done. My husband had the Caesar salad and the 8oz. filet Mignon and was very pleased with his choice as well. Service was professional. Warm bread rolls and butter with (I think) rosemary were complementary. Also loved the whole roasted garlic that came with the steak and melted like butter on the rolls. The restaurant has a more formal indoor area as well as bar and outdoor seating.
Dallas Restaurant Week (month) marches on with reservations at the Dallas Chop House, a restaurant that neither of us had eaten at before.Om: This might have been the best overall experience that Ive had in quite some time at a restaurant. EVERYTHING was above average or excellent, from the food to the service to the atmosphere, it was a complete dining experience. The place was not very busy as our reservations were on the early side of dinner. Our waiter (Tom) was very friendly and provided the appropriate amount of small talk. The restaurant was more modern than most other steakhouses weve eaten at, very clean and elegant looking. They had a great looking patio as well, well try sitting out there once it cools down a little. Getting to the food, it was all just outstanding. Popovers with herb butter? Oh yea, love that herb butter. Grilled peaches with mozzarella? Great presentation and the peaches were deliciously sweet. The filet was cooked exactly as I requested and ranks right up there with other high end steakhouses. The mac & cheese is easily in the stop three from any restaurant, loved the toasted crumbs on top. The olive oil cakewas hard to describe but delicious, though I was more partial to Noms bourbon cake. Heck, I even made an additional order and tried their ice cream sundae topped with kettle corn, and it was a delicious combo of ingredients. We are SO HAPPY to have given this place a try, it beat our expectations and became one of our favorite restaurant stops! Superb!Nom: As you may have surmised weve been eating our way across August and this place took my breath awaynot an easy feat considering how many really stellar restaurants weve visited this month! Everything was exceptional, the dcor, the ambiance, the wait staff, the foodDallas Chop House lacks for nothing. It was not busy yet but we were smart and went early! Our waiter was exceptional, very knowledgeable, personable and provided straight talk about recommendations based on our personal preferences. We started with Popovers with honey and rosemary butter. Internally I went huh? but what a wonderful taste combination! The popovers are delicious on their own but the butter really does make the taste POP! The appetizer was peaches and mozzarella, it wasnt my kind of dish but I could appreciate how many people would have been very taken by it. My short ribs were amazingflat out amazing. Perfectly cooked and very flavorful. Cut them with my fork! And the mac n cheese was in the top three. I had the burbon cake which I dont believe is on their regular menu so I recommend you grab a piece anyway you can because it is devine!! It hit 5s on all marksI cant wait till we go back!!!!
A winner downtown. Food was superb. I had the 30 day aged beef and it was excellent. Cooked as ordered and with a great flavor. My wife had the chicken and also loved itThe only bump was the service. We seemed to get the only bad waiter. As we were not provided the nightY feature or guided through the menu as other waiters seemed to be doing.Other than that, I highly recommend this restaurant
No thanks. Thought we would be in for a very nice meal, but the service was just okay, and I paid an arm and a leg for a steak so tough I had a hard time chewing it. Adding to the evening, the fire alarm went off, and went off, and went off, and the staff did absolutely nothing – didn’t get up to check it out, didn’t come and reassure the diners. My dessert was even burned on the bottom. Would not go here again.
Had a great meal- tasty steaks with bacon butter, delicious slightly unusual sides, and delicious desserts. The drink menu could use a few more kicks, but overall not your typical steak dinner.
To expensive for the experience. Went to dinner with a group of 12 the appetizers were good the salad and sides were too. My $39 ribeye was overcooked the manager personally apologized and replaced it…with a $15 New York strip that was undercooked. It was returned and cooked correctly but all fat. It was when my friend noticed her ribeye wasn’t correct we realized they had served us the other persons plate. No apologies, no comp, no integrity.
Very poor quality
