I was extremely hungry when I arrived, Ellen’s southern kitchen hit the spot. The meals are portioned well and there is great variety. The staff were very friendly and I enjoyed everything we ordered!
Ellen’s is one of our favorite places to eat in Dallas. It is downtown with a great view from the front. Parking can be difficult but manageable. We almost always go for brunch and the food is excellent. Today the service was good too but they sat us in a back room and it was a little disappointing for us, so ask for a table in the main dining area or outside. In the backroom today a man belched 3 times at the table behind us. It was not loud but loud enough for us to hear it. I do not think that would have happened in the main dining area. romikaweb.wordpress.com
Loved the atmosphere and was seated quickly. We ordered the egg tacos that we liked a lot. The bathrooms were very clean ( clean bathroom, clean kitchen!) only problem I had was the waiter who seemed to forget about our table and took forever to bring the check. Otherwise I recommend this place!
Delicious southern food that is reasonably priced. The restaurant has the feel of a much more expensive place. The fried chicken is well worth the wait.
Stopped here for lunch while sightseeing near the JFK museum. The dcor looked new and well appointed. Food selection was good and it has a good wine selection. Chose the blackened catfish which can be done well or not. It was served hot, straight off the grill. Good job. For me I judge the restaurant to a great extent by how hot the meal is served at the table. Service was good, friendly and attentive to your wishes. If you want a place to dine in the area that is not a steakhouse I would recommend Ellen’s. missfoodiedelhi.wordpress.com
If you need to find a lovely breakfast/brunch place that is located in downtown Dallas this is the place to come. At first I was shocked when I saw it had shut down and the entrances blocked however a sense of relief came over me when the signs pointed meacross the road to the new larger location. I felt so welcomed here when I first arrived (there were heaps of people already waiting for a table and this was a Sunday morning) and asked if I wanted a seat at the bar. I was fine with this and usually expecting a sub standard seat it was a cushy chair at a full sized bar. I was impressed so far. My server Austin was gregarious and very friendly. Nothing was a problem for him. He quickly took my drink order which was a Chai Tea Latte. It was a nice blend and definitely better than most other outlets around here.I was tossing up between the Big Country Breakfast (two biscuits with gravy, two scrambled eggs, two slices of bacon, two sausage links, and hash browns) or Grits Benedict. The country breakfast won as I wasn’t 100% sure about having grits again after my last experience plus I hadn’t tried biscuits and gravy yet. When it came out it was massive. There was carb overload on the plates. The bacon was crispy which I prefer the softer version but this was nice. Sausage links were smaller than usual but delicious. Eggs were cooked nicely. Hash browns were crunchy on the outside and soft in the middle. You better bring your appetite if you’re eating here.Definitely worth a visit. The bar itself is fully stocked with alcohol so you could treat yourself to a cocktail!
