Went for Sunday brunch-food was cold, drinks were terrible and service was subpar. Got the cheese enchiladas from a fresh pan that was brought out and they were so cold the cheese wasn’t even melted. I’m giving it a 2.0 instead of 1.0 simply because the manager was very professional and understanding. He comped our meal even though we offered to at least pay for the drinks. I can honestly say that I will not be back though. Had been here previously for dinner 4 years ago and had a great experience-not sure what happened.
Heads up to everyone who wants to come here for thier birthday, iron cactus doesn’t allow birthday cakes. I guess they don’t appreciate people’s birthdays. Not gonna come back here to celebrate any events.
The food was average and the wait staff was pleasant enough. Nothing was extraordinary or worth extra note. The prices seemed very high for what you get.
My food wasn’t very good at all. I had the tamale pops and crab nachos…both from the starters menu. The tamale pops had no resemblance of tamale flavours and actually tasted more like boudin balls. The nachos were a little too fishy in flavour. Margaritas were good, and the chips & salsa redeemed the experience. Overall, I was quite disappointed though.
So I tried this upbeat Mexican food spot a couple years ago when I went on this random date with some jerk. He was not a keeper, obviously, and neither was the food. Usually I can remember how delicious a meal/experience was even years later. However, this food was less than memorable. It was a busy night so of course our service wasn’t amazing, but it wasn’t terrible. The only thing I loved about this place was the interior. The vibe was very cozy and eccentric looking. Maybe I just wasn’t feeling this place the first time I tried it, so I’d be willing to go back. hannahbethstyle.blogspot.com

Quick Snack. My daughter and I were downtown for the NAEYC Conference and walked over from her hotel for a quick snack. It looked intriguing…three levels! We were immediately greeted and asked where we would care to sit…in or out. We chose in…by the bar. She sat us by the window…great for people watching. Our bartender came over right away and took our drink order. It took us a minute to decide but she was patient and helped us with descriptions of the happy hour specials. I decided on the Mango Mint Margarita and we both shared the fried jalapeos stuffed with a delicious chicken filling. Both my drink and the appetizer were quick to the table. Holy moly! They were wonderful. The peppers were still crisp to bite, not mushy like most are, and the filling was full of chunks of white meat and a creamy sauce. Just thinking about them makes my mouth water! The dipping sauce that accompanied them was also superb. An order of 8 was more than enough for us. It ended up being our dinner because they were so filling. We didn’t try anything else and it was about 5-5:30 on a Friday, so, I’m not sure about the rest of the menu or if the service deteriorates when crowded and busy…but our visit and food was worth our time and money!
