We went there to celebrate a birthday. We ended up arriving late but they welcomed us and promptly seated us. Admittedly it was not really that busy. We had one appetizer and four entres as well as a couple drinks. The appetizer was very tasty. The entres: chicken taco plate, A Mexican chicken salad., Chicken mole plate, and chicken enchiladas in green sauce plate. The meals also came with a soup and a dinner salad. The soups and salads arrived almost simultaneously. Fortunately we had plenty of time to finish the salad and begin the soup then the entres arrived as well. Which led to a crowded table. This kind of service always seems to make me cringe. I have a small pet peeve about when certain plates or parts of the meal should be served. Service like this makes you feel like the waiter is telling you please hurry up and leave. It makes you feel like you should be eating at the rhythm The waiter has set for you. For me this is an indication that management is just hiring on the fly and not taking the time to properly train their waiters and staff. Other than this our waitress was very attentive and helpful.I really enjoy the Mexican food cuisine most especially. Our meals were tasty if you could get past the fire from the jalapeos and other assortment of chili flavors that seem to create a fire barrier in your mouth before you could actually get to the main food. I like very spicy food as much as any other people do. But when it is so hot and spicy that you spend most of your meal trying to put out the flame you don’t get an opportunity to appreciate any other flavors. Such was the case at this time. Even the mole was very spicy and fiery. The ambience is nice, and some what comfortable. Plenty of room and space between the tables which allows and makes you feel like you’re not rubbing elbows with the next table to enjoy your meal. As you can imagine the Decour was based on owls in as many variety and designs as you can possibly imagine. I do have a comment about the lower dining area as it may be very challenging for the elderly and those with walking difficulties. They brought out the birthday cake which we had them holding for us and they lit the candles. That was The extent of their participation in our celebration. Unlike many other restaurants that will join or lead in a rally of happy birthday we sang the happy birthday song by ourselves. They should consider rallying the waiters to make it a more festive moment and also increasing the chance for a greater tip. food for thought for them, no pun intended.I do have one other comment about their menu. They say that it is Mexican food in its traditional form. They should investigate and they will find that chimichangas and fajitas are not traditional Mexican foods. They should probably label these under Tex-Mex and/or Californian type foods. Will we be going back, probably yes at least to give them another chance.
