Great cucumber margarita. Tasted fresh and not with that chemical sour mix I hate. Loved the oyster cocktail, shrimp aguachile, and octopus (though definitely a share dish, I made 4 big tacos and only ate half of it). The whole season bass with garlic sauce was good but a little overcooked. writeonrubee.com
Wow, I don’t know where to start. Definately went I there after seeing the commercial expecting great mexican seafood. Totally disappointed. Asked for a margarita, none avail. Waiter convinced me to get a bucket of beer for 8.00 got mini 7oz beers. Ordered appetizer, the octopus.. Gross. My buddy got the shrimp quesadilla good. Then for the entree, got the whole fried fish. Not fresh and tasted like jerky. My buddy got the fajitas, gross and undercooked. My other buddy got the meat enchiladas, gross sauce on top ruined the plate. Overall… Nasty.. Worst I’ve ever had. Subpar service and ambiance.
This crap might fly in LC, but not in the EPT!. After anticipating the opening of this place, which is near where I live, and watching their commercials showing sizzling grilled octopus, I finally went with my wife and son and it was a BIG let down! First and foremost, this was an old Leo’s location and it appears that they didn’t bother to change anything inside. The same outdated uncomfortable tables, and the bright ugly colors on the walls are there, and it doesn’t even look like they cleaned up that well. This Leo’s was filthy, probably one of the reasons they went belly up. Add up the bad atmosphere, smallish portions, bland taste, and and overpriced menu and you don’t get a very good result. My wife ordered a chicken salad (I told her not to here, but what do I know) and it was literally a cut up chicken breast on a mound of wet shredded iceberg lettuce, for $10 mind you, with NO dressing. When we asked for dressing they brought out plastic packets of vinegar and mayonnaise! Anyway, I ordered the grilled octopus which tasted okay but was also somewhat small and came with no sides of any kind for $16 bucks. I wanted a bit more char on the octopus so I sent it back to the grill and they brought out a new one that was even less cooked and more rubbery than the first. The service was also very lacking and the manager kind of useless. This business model might have worked for them in cruces where there are not many options, but El Paso is packed with good Mexican seafood places at better prices. I don’t think they have what it takes to make it here.
