Best fish in town. Prices are extremely reasonable. DADDY LIKES
Fish was good. We used a restaurant.com discount here and thought the place was pretty good. I haven’t had great experiences with the fish in El Paso but was pleasantly surprised by the filet. It seems they cook the same fish the same way for several entrees and just top it with different stuff, so it should be done well! It’s a large piece of white fish (cod? haddock?) lightly battered, not too greasy and moist. I got mine Toscana style and my husband got his with olives and capers. One criticism is the sides – the entrees come out with some heavily buttered or margarined white bread, and white rice and white mashed potatoes on the side. The rice has a few corn kernels in it, but essentially everything you get is a white starch. I found this odd!We also kind of felt like we had crossed the border since our waiter spoke to us in Spanish and gave us menus in Spanish (we are Caucasian and gave no indication we spoke Spanish). He at one point asked in Spanish if we wanted menus in English but since I am practicing my culinary Spanish I just kept them. I couldn’t understand him at one point but I think he was just asking me what I wanted to order in a not-so-simple way so I just ordered. Some people might find this fun but some might not!We went early and there were lots of folks with kids. It has a family-friendly vibe. It’s hard to decide how many stars to give this place. I think 3/5 is fair, but since we usually have terrible meals in El Paso and this place actually had decent fish it might deserve 4 (for El Paso).
I been there three times and their food is great. Excellent customer. Love their tostadas de ceviche and camarones fiesta.
Afishionado. I am new to El Paso and did not expect great seafood from a place 600 miles from the nearest ocean but I was pleasantly surprised. I felt like a change from the ubiquitous Mexican restaurants where everything is either verde, rojo, or globs of cheese. I sampled a few appetizers since it was my first visit. After the appetizer and the salsa I realized this would not be my only visit. The customary pre-meal chips and salsa were awesome. The salsa, I was told, consisted of avocado, crema, chile de arbol, chile jalapeo and chile chipotle. It was a welcome change. The meal also came with a perfectly portioned serving of vegetable soups that had the perfect proportion of spices. I sampled the fogon quesadilla, the breaded fish tacos, and the fish ceviche. The quesadilla was deliciously gooey but not oily like you would find at other establishments. The ceviche was great but was a little too much vegetable not enough fish but that may be due to my dislike of celery. The breaded fish tacos were a bit overly-breaded but not terrible. I look forward to my next visit to add to this review. If you are a seafood afishionado you should definitely give this establishment a try.
100% mexican style mariscos ( sea food)…… very tasty! Ask for agua chile u.p.s.style! Excellent! Fish soup is some of the best in town! 😉
