I went there for the first time to try out the sancocho but they were out. I was advised by the staff that they cook all their menu items daily so they run out of the sancocho quickly especially when it’s cold. I suggest you call ahead if this is the dish you have in mind. After getting over the disappointment I ordered the arrepita de yuca as an appetizer and bisteak with tomotoe sauce. The dish came with tostones (flattened slices of plantain fried) avocado, and a side bowl of beans. I hadn’t eaten dominican food in a while but growing up with I can say that the meal was tasty and reminded me of the food I grew up with. I’ll definetly go back to try the sancocho but I’ll call ahead next time.
A good simple meal. This is a small family owned business which serves traditional dishes from the Spanish speaking islands of the Caribbean; I believe the owners are Dominican. Their menu is pretty simple but they feature some Mexican dishes; bothersome but oh well. I ordered the mofongo with some pernil al horno. The pernil was tender and flavorful but the mofongo was dry and heavy on the garlic. I also tried the pork chop and the stewed goat which were quite tasty. The rice and beans and the tostones were good also. Good restaurant if you want a simple (Caribbean) home style meal.
