We like to eat Chinese food in my household. On any given week, we order Chinese carryout at least once and sometimes twice and we are always looking for new places to try. A recent new restaurant to add to our places- tried list is Z&T Chinese Caf.Z&T offers the usual Chinese foods you expect, like orange chicken, Mongolian beef, sweet and sour pork, wonton soup, egg rolls, etc. They have some vegetarian options also plus a kids menu. The choices are pretty much standard, with nothing unique to be found. The same could be said for the atmosphere- its very ordinary, contains a small number of seats, and is devoid of much visual appeal. Of course, the final verdict on any Chinese restaurant- even those that are less original- is the food. And the food options here are, once again, very ordinary and nothing special. We always order an assortment of meat dishes when we order Chinese food and we did the same thing here. Everyone in the family agreed that the food, while certainly not bad, was very so- so in overall appeal. My wife described it best when she said that it seemed a little too Americanized and not authentic. I concurred with her. To me, it seemed much like the food offered at a chain establishment like Panda Express. Chinese food is a mainstay of my familys diet, but Z&T Chinese Caf is not a restaurant we are likely to order from again. The food is just not exciting enough to win our business and unless I see a great coupon or other offer come along, we may not order again, as there are much better Chinese restaurants in the Katy, Texas area. greatbeernow.com
