As a pilot I loved flying in the Fredericksburg airport and taxiing right up to the diner for breakfast or lunch. I last ate there last year. What a disappointing change in the quality of the food and the staff. Staff is busy chatting and flirting with each other and do not pay attention to the customers. Food was terrible. I order an egg over medium (white done, yellow runny) but what I got was a scorched, overcooked, hard egg. The sausage was cold and tasteless and store bought links. The biscuit had been in the warming drawer far too long and barely edible.
Horrible Service, mediocre food. We live in Fredericksburg and have been to the Airport Diner about 6 times. The only reason we go, is because the kids like to watch the planes land and take off. It is seat yourself, and the dining room is very small. There is only 1 table to accommodate parties of more than 5. If you can find a booth, it is probably still dirty because the bus boys still haven’t cleaned it. Once you sit down, it will be about 10 minutes before any waitress acknowledges your presence. This is probably after you flag one of them down. The food is nothing special, just your run of the mill burgers, salads, fried chicken and meatloaf. Oh, and you will have to ask for a refill every time- they will rarely offer you more tea or water.It’s only saving grace is the atmosphere- the decor is neat, and you can get ice cream sundae’s, milkshakes and root beer floats.
