Racist?. I went there with my fiance who is African American and I’m of Asian descent. We both order two scoops of ice cream on a waffle cone. The young male clerk struggled to even talk to us and we could tell that he was clearly uncomfortable and nervous. Why? It definitely made me feel like we werent welcome in the establishment. When we got our cones the two scoops didn’t even go above the top of the cone and the cones aren’t even large. My chocolate scoop was more like a spoonful. Then I watched as another (white) customer order a scoop and got a well rounded scoop bigger than the two scoops I got. I wanted to say something but decided against it. Didn’t want to ruin our day trip because up til then I was having a very good time. The ice cream was delicious but it would have been great to receive more than just a tasting.I realize that this was one persons behavior and may not represent the feelings of everyone there but they do represent the business and should conduct themselves fairly.
Great ice cream with wonderful flavors, in an old timey ice cream parlor. Has deli style food also.
Went here with my kids. The kids sandwiches were bread & meat. Why do restaurants think serving dry sandwiches to kids is ok? Butter? Mayo? Mustard? Grilled cheese was the same. The cook was never told that if you just butter the outside of a grilled cheese, it is nice & toasty brown and tasty too!! They need to healthy-up the kids meals and offer sides like veggies or fruit, too. Chips is the only choice. My muffaletta salad was ok tasting, but by the time I finished eating I had a half cup of pieces of old, black rotted lettuce i had picked out while I ate. My son’s mint, chocolate chip ice cream was really good. Next time we will just go for the ice cream.
My family and I visit Fredericksburg about twice a year and always go to clear river the foods great as well as the sweet treats but the last two times we’ve came we had a young teenager who took our order named Sadie hurrying us to order and wasn’t even busy went on a Tuesday there was no one else in the store and she said she didn’t have all day I just don’t understand because we’ve always had great friendly service until her don’t think will be going back if she’s still there…

LOVE! This place is precious and my kids loved it, not to mention all the different flavored of homemade ice creams to choose from. Not to mention the sinful baked goods. You must go here!
