Great Food & handicap accessibility needs improving. We go to Fredericksburg at least twice a year (many times more often) when we take our son to camp and always eat at KBob’s. I’d read some of the recent reviews and wondered what we would find this year. However . . . Yesterday we arrived for a late lunch and we had awesome food. We had the best chicken fajita quesadillas ever, filled so full with cheese, as an appetizer. YUM!!! They also have them in the Kay-Bee size for smaller appetites (which would have been plenty for me!). My husband and I then shared beef fajita and shrimp fajita sizzling plate. It was delicious. My mom and son went to the salad bar and that included the soup and beans. They enjoyed it a lot. It’s a smaller salad bar than some people may expect in today’s market, but they found the ingredients fresh and crisp and delicious. They also had the fried catfish. The batter was pretty seasoned (not just cornmeal) and was a little on the dry side (the batter) but the fish was very adequate in size and meaty (thick) which was nice. All in all I’d say we were just as happy this visit as in the past. It was a slow time of the day when we arrived so not a lot of people in the restaurant. Our server was very nice. We will do it all again on Friday afternoon after we pick up our son from camp. It is a little pricey, considering my hubby and I shared and my mom and son shared a plate (though they also added the cost of the salad bar to theirs) and our appetizer was free with a coupon. The bill for the four of us with a decent tip was over $50. NOT bad, except we all shared. Had we each had our own plate of food it would have been almost double this price for the four of us. But, truly, we enjoyed every last bite and left full. One comment I would make, however, is that I’m handicapped and when you park in the handicap parking spaces you have to use a special entrance that takes you through this tiny room. If it’s unoccupied with guests it’s NO issue, really, but if it’s occupied it’s very tight quarters to maneuver a power chair through. I’ve had guests have to get up out of their chairs while dining to accommodate my chair through this room. : ( I am hoping KBob’s takes this from one of their handicapped guests that a ramp at the front door would be much appreciated. Thank you!!!

It took 15 minutes for our server to come over and take our drink orders. Since we had plenty if time to look over the menu we went ahead and ordered. 10 minutes later she is back with our drinks. We get our steaks and they are tough and not very warm. Our adult portion steaks were the same size as the child portion. My mashed potatoes were instant and old. There was a large lump so hard it was indelible. The steaks had no seasoning whatsoever and the flavor was only improved by the brown gravy from my potatoes. When we were ready to pay, (my meal was $11.90) I handed her a $20 and she asked if I needed change. Uh, yeah. I’m not tipping $8 on a terrible meal with terrible service. I have never NOT tipped, except this time. This was the worst service ever. Now for the good: the rolls were hot and fresh and very good. My water was cold. That is all.
