Service was slow and we had to go find our own silverware and napkins. The home style potatoes were cold and undercooked. The Jager schnitzel was the worst I have ever had. My daughter’s order came out wrong. My son seemed to enjoy his cheeseburger and sitting outside was nice especially since you can apparently smoke inside.
Been here twice, mostly because it is one of the only restaurants open late in Fredericksburg. It has live music, which you can enjoy outside if you are up for the heat…had the Wiener schnitzel with lemon butter, it was really good, also tried a local blonde beer that was pretty tasty. For an appetizer we had fried Brie with a tomato sauce, it was pretty interesting.
We stopped in here one night for dinner. Everyone’s food was delicious! We had both Wiener schnitzel and jaeger schnitzel, the pork shank, jalapeo poppers, and coconut shrimp. Schnitzel and shrimp was delicious. We weren’t a fan of the poppers. My braised pork shank was WONDERFUL! Really good dishes. Service was fairly good. They have a beautiful tree in the front that provides a lot of shade. However, it’s summer and it reached 108 that day, so it was a bit warm for outdoor seating, but that is all they had available.
Service was terrible. We were obviously an inconvenience from the moment we stepped foot in the door. The nicest thing I can say is that they were rude before we placed our orders, so it was easy to pack up an leave. They had to put two tables together to fit our party, and that was an issue. They slammed water down on the table with a huff and an eye roll. I’m sorry for the annoyance? While we were waiting to order my toddler was sitting quietly playing with 3-4 sugar packets while we (group of 6 adults) waited to order drinks from the bar. Our waitress, who is also allegedly the manager, walked over to our table and informed us that the sugar packets were too expensive for my son to play with and took them away from him; however, 1) an occupied, quiet toddler is priceless during lunch out; 2) he had fewer packets than would have been used had any of us ordered tea; 3) we were all about to order drinks from the bar, from which the mark-up should more than cover a few sugar packets; and 4) the cost of things like napkins, sugar, and anything else on the table should already be factored into the price of menu items. When I called the server on her behavior, she doubled down, insisting that I was being unreasonable…over sugar packets. In a tourist town, hospitality matters, and I was happy to take my money elsewhere, and I encourage you to do the same.
The coconut shrimp appetizer was good. The quail and jger schnitzel are both good also. We enjoyed the live music on the patio. Their mixed drinks were pretty weak.
Came here for lunch.. Good lunch specials.. Sat outside under the huge tree that shades the whole area. Live music.. Great food! We will definitely be back when we come down again.
Tourist trap or not, if I lived in this community I would be permanently parked in the shade of that giant tree they have out front. Service was prompt but food was primarily focused on german food and sandwiches for the lunch menu. I had a local Fredericksburg beer and my companion had one of the house drinks. Both ordered the german plates. Sausage was good (hey-o!)
