  • Great Beer Now!

Island time is a great time. You kick back and forget about what actual time of day it is while you do what you love doing best. On an island like Galveston, eating, drinking, and swimming are a regular part of life and one place where you can do all three is Float Pool and Patio Bar. This restaurant/bar hangout is a nice place to kick back with food and drink. It features both and indoor and outdoor section, complete with a good amount of seating in both areas. The outside section is where most people go because, well, youre in Galveston where the weather is usually warm and the outside at Float offers views of the Gulf of Mexico. There is even a top level where you can sit and enjoy even better views of the open water. Most unique of all at Float Pool and Patio Bar is the outdoor pool. This is a cool place to cool off and while it isnt very big, it is a good place to take a dip in a fun atmosphere. I havent used the pool myself and the last time I visited, it was a little too chilly outside. But the pool is popular during the warm weather, which in Galveston, is most of the year. The food served at Float Pool and Patio Bar consists of simple options like burgers, burritos, etc. The prices are generally low and I like the special sauce they add to the angus burgers- it adds a nice amount of spiciness and flavor. The drinks served here consist of several specialty tropical drinks along with a handful of draft beers and a decent selection of canned/bottled beer. I wish they had more draft beer options, but I do like the bottled and canned selection. It has some locally brewed options, which is what I like when I travel.Island time is what we all wish we had more of and Galveston, Texas is certainly a place where island time is the norm. The tropical theme and fun atmosphere at Float Pool and Patio Bar make for a nice escape from life and a perfect way to enjoy island time to the fullest. The small parking lot means you may have to park on the street and walk a block or two, but the fun and views of the Gulf are worth the small effort. greatbeernow.com

I have been coming here for a couple years now, but they just switched to handmade angus burgers. Oh my! How awesome, $2 and you can build it just like the burritos now. Life is good.09 Sep, 2013This is a really chill place, the burritos are my favorite on the island.

GREAT FOOD!. My wife and I with our 2 kids stayed on the island last week and just happened to try this place out after a long day at Schlitterbahn waterpark. Float is a small cozy bar with a pool right on Seawall Blvd with big windows that open up to the gulf and let the salty sea breezes in. We got a table by one of these windows and enjoyed the view of the beach. We made it in about 5PM which was still happy hour and were able to get a $8 pitcher of DosEquis. We started off with chips and queso then ordered fish tacos (of which their are choices of toppings – I got the verde), fried grouper sandwich with waffle fries, and quesidillas. The food was AMAZING. The grouper sandwich was big enough to split between two people! We stayed entertained with the unlimited choices of music on the internet jukebox (50 cents a play). The help seem a bit sluggish but are nice enough when you get their attention. It is not enough of a detriment to pass up the best food I had on the island. The food comes out fast and hot. We liked it enough to eat there twice during our week there. Don’t pass it up!
