Leon’s cut (fatty end brisket), chopped pork shoulder (called NC), and sweet potato pie. Rendering of the brisket was good on one side and smoke flavor was not obvious despite smoke ring. Pork shoulder was in a western NC style sauce but was fairly greasy. Still, I have no qualms about giving Leon’s a five star rating. It is historically significant. It was one of the first and continues to be one of the venues where one can find the NC style of barbecue. thefriedchickenblog.blogspot.com
