This place really is a hole in the wall that is very easy to miss or mistake for a small grocery store which is actually is as well! But make no mistake, this is some authentic Mexican (and possibly Ecuadoran) cuisine. To start we ordered the chili con queso thinking it was chili. It wasnt. Its a moderately spicy cheese dip for tortilla chips similar to what youd get at a ball game, but the real version. Very good, and now we know what it is!Next was the pork and chicken enchiladas which were probably the best weve ever had anywhere. Particularly the pork. They were just bursting with flavor. Almost like the pork had been cooked on a well seasoned cast iron pan – which it may have been. The flavor was just unbelievable. Well be ordering this again. The beef fajitas were bits of beef served up with rice, beans, and lettuce along with some tortilla shells. Not the sizzling plate that some might come to expect with fajitas now. Very good, but pales in comparison to the pork enchilada. Finally was the seafood soup (a Friday special) which was absolutely loaded with shrimp, crab (imitation), fish, and oysters all in a tomato broth served with rice. Tangy and also very good. The service wasnt the greatest. We picked up our own menus and were served out food before being given cutlery. Not the end of the world and they were certainly polite enough, just a step or two behind at times. Not a reason not to go, just pointing it out. This place is very highly recommended for good and real Mexican food.

What a Gem!. The red salsa is spicy, rich, smoky, and first rate. Had the seafood soup chock full of shrimp, oysters, squid, carrots, potatoes, and onion. My fav is the Puerca en salsa verde which was a spicy, rich pork stew with potatoes and roasted green chiles served with beans and rice. FANTASTIC dish! I also highly recommend the Camarones al la diabla if you’re in the mood for some real heat. Pair that with the salsa verde from the back for dipping chips (we had to request it, it does not come to the table automatically), and you’re in for a treat. The torta al pastor, was large in size, inexpensive, and excellent. No matter what you order, wash it down with a watermelon Aqua Fresca for dessert or to go! This is a hidden gem in Galveston–one of the best Mexican places on the island!
This place is an awesome combination of a restaurant and convience store. The prices are good and food is great.
