While in Galveston over a weekend, I was in need of lunch. I usually head for one of my favorite hangouts ocean side or on the downtown Strand, but this time, I felt like something new. I was with my daughter and knew that she would be a little more particular than I, so I pulled out my cell phone to search for a good place to eat. A restaurant recommended by just about everyone is Millers Seawall Grill.Finding Millers Seawall Grill wasnt too difficult. It is across the street from the Gulf of Mexico and based on pictures I saw online, I knew it was a stand- alone restaurant that looked like a castle. We tracked it down quickly and made our way inside. Millers Seawall Grill is a popular place and there was a wait for a table, but given the rave reviews, I didnt mind. I knew this restaurant had been singled out for awards for several food items but feeling like a home- cooked meal, I decided to forgo the award winning options and select an entre. I went with the meatloaf and chose broccoli and whipped potatoes and gravy for my sides. They did a good job preparing the meatloaf, seasoning it lightly and topping it with a mild tomato glaze and slice of bacon. My meal was satisfying and I left feeling good, but my girl told me her meal was even better. She ordered the Jean Lafitte, which consists of French toast, scrambled eggs, and bacon. She fell in love with the French toast and I have to agree that it was exceptional.Breakfast is served all day at Millers Seawall Grill and many who dine here do so for that reason alone. But there is much else to enjoy, including assorted entrees with your choice of sides, sandwiches, burgers, and seafood. And you definitely dont want to go home without trying one of the desserts like the award winning chocolate ganache pecan brownie or the Italian cream cheese cake.Galveston has its share of nice places to dine and I have visited several. Millers Seawall Grill certainly has to rank near the top of the list for food quality and about the only thing I would change about this restaurant is the limited hours and lack of a decent craft beer selection. Other than these small issues, Millers Seawall Grill is an excellent place to dine with memorable food and a cool view of the open sea. greatbeernow.com
Delicious gumbo, chicken fried steak, grilled shrimp, and key lime pie! The staff was fantastic and offered a sample of the gumbo and chowder. Can’t wait to return!
Our party of 4 ordered various items off the menu, and they were all great. The cheese burger is huge and top-notch, the grits and shrimp are unbelievably good, the big 16 which is grilled or fried shrimp with a side order and hush puppies was very good. I also was told the french toast and chicken fried steak are the very best. I will be back! Ask for Amanda or Joe as servers, but they are so professional.
My husband and I agree the chicken fried steak was the best we’ve had in twenty years. Paired with mashpotatos, milk gravy and okra…yep it was awesome.
Loved it. Hard to find a good brunch spot that is open on Memorial Day at 9:30 am. Thanks google for the recommendation. Got us seated quickly with a view of the water. Service was great and the food was tasty too. Best gravy I think I’ve had anywhere (other then homemade). Would definitely recommend and I like how you can order off any part of the menu all day!
This is my favorite restaurant on the strip so far. Best gumbo I’ve ever had. Not spicy but full of flavor. Great prices too. The $75 for 2 people must be based on buying the most expensive things on the menu because the gumbo is only $10.
