Crowded and limited parking, very casual right next door to Redfish swimming and residences, same block as Gaidos. Service was friendly and attentive. We had shrimp and oysters but substituted a baked potato for one of the fry sides and a green salad for one of the coleslaws. The shrimp was excellent, briny and fresh—oysters were fresh but overcooked and rubbery, their cornmeal batter bitter. The green side salad was good with field greens and romaine in a fresh dressing. Fries were crispy and the coleslaw was made from mostly red cabbage. They have a lot of beer selections and tap beers, the one tried tonight was locally-brewed Tiki Wheat with shades of coriander. Total for one beer, one soda, two entrees with the sub of a baked potato and green salad was $64.61.
The food was excellent. We were greeted by the bartender immediately when we walked it. The waitress was pleasant and made our experience relaxing and fun.
This is a noisy, busy bar with some darn good seafood! We started with a dozen raw oysters on the half shell… mmmm. Then we ordered shrimp gumbo (for the first time ever!) and lobster bisque. The gumbo was delicious but the bisque was spectacular, though absent of any actual lobster chunks. We’d order it again though as it was among the best tasting we’ve ever had.For a lighter meal, Lisa’s ordered the fish tacos which she enjoyed quite a bit. I on the other hand ordered the deluxe seafood platter. A bit of everything and all amazing! It includes shrimp, oysters, stuffed shrimp, crab and shrimp stuffing balls, shrimp peques and a catfish fillet. I’d definitely order it again!Oh, and the waffle fries are addictive!
My Mom and I ate here about 2:30 on a weekday. Awesome food and service! Shrimp and oysters were fresh. Fries were crisp. They have several specialties, like Shrimp Robert.
Bring a Portable Potty with you!. The men’s restroom was worse than most gas station toilets. Made me gag. They recommended Casey’s Shrimp Platter, but the fried shrimp tasted like burnt electrical wires smell. I sent them back, and the replacements were the same. My food was all cold. The Stella on tap tasted old like it had bad yeast in it. Shiner Bock was better. The blackened mahi mahi was pretty good, only because it was a special request, so I believe they made it fresh. (It comes grilled, I requested it blackened.) I don’t want fish that was made earlier in the evening and sits under a heat lamp. Service was pretty good. None of this was the waiter’s fault! Still gave him a good tip. I hope the owners are reading this! We might give them a second chance if reviews improve.
Terrible costumer service, we were seated and weren’t attended until 26 minutes later, and it also took just as long for us to.get our bill. But only.because i had to ask the hostess for assistance. Food wasn’t great, needless to say very unsatisfying. Wouldn’t recommend it to any of my friends
Staff at Casey’s. I have been going there since 1985 and was very dissapointed with the hostess the night we went. She needs to be trained to listen to the patron and give them what they ask for within reason. We asked to be seated by the window so we could look out at the gulf and was taken to the very back of the dining room. The lighting was horrible and she tried to sit us by the restroom and we refused to be seated way in the back. They need to be trained in diversity of all cultures and not assume we need to be seated in the back of the establishment. The food was okay and I don’t think I will be going back the next time I visit Galveton. I am sure there are other places. Oh by the way when we told the waiter we wanted to be seated to see the water, we were told that the pool is the water. I was so dissapointed in the service that it made me sick and could not enjoy my meal.
