We ate brunch here today. The food was great. I had a shrimp poboy and the tomato basil soup. The poboy was big and had plenty of good shrimp on it and the tomato basil soup was one of the best I’ve ever had! I highly recommend the soup. The food was priced right, not too expensive, about $ 30 for two people. The only complaint I have was the service, our waiter was only at the table to take our order and drop off the food and check. Never saw if we enjoyed our food and never refilled our drinks. Granted they were packed and he might have been busy, but that means they’re understaffed or just not good at service. I saw surrounding tables were having the same problem with other waiters.
Delicious food and excellent service. We stayed in Galveston two nights and both mornings we had breakfast in this friendly caf. The foods we tried include the shrimp omelette, chocolate chip pancakes & the big breakfast. Each item on our plates was high quality and full of flavor. The avocado was perfectly ripe and tasty. The breakfast potatoes were fresh and well cooked. The jalapeo toast and blueberry scone were also delicious. Our servers each day were pleasant and attentive but not intrusive. This is a must visit spot and we will be back!
The breakfast here is seriously good. I’d rate this as one of the top three breakfasts I’ve had on the island–perhaps in the top two. Wife had the polenta cakes with maple syrup which were creamy on the inside and crispy on the outside. They had a slightly smoky flavor that allowed the savory cakes to pair well with the sweet syrup. I had a three egg omelette with ham, Swiss, peppers, onions, and tomatoes with a side of the jalapeo cheese toast. The omelette was great, and the real star was the jalapeo toast. Their breads are all made in-house, and my only small complaint is that they served smuckers jam with their toast. With homemade toast that good, why not feature it more? Highlight it with a homemade, delicious peach or mango jam! This place is a bakery that serves food. Their baked goods deserve to be elevated–they’re really delicious!
They have good cafe style food and delicious sweets from the bakery. I would definitely recommend to others. We will be returning to try more of the menu.
Very good on most things. I ate here tonight with my friends for dinner. Nice casual atmosphere in a hidden away neighborhood. I love finding those kinds of places. They have an amazing bakery next to the dining room and their baked goods are off the charts. I got the Cinnamon roll, which is huge, filled with raisins and covered in sugary glaze. It was home-baked perfection. My entree choice wasn’t a good one. I got the smoked chicken, which came out extremely tough and dry. I should have said something but I was eating with friends and everyone else had something great. I tried the chicken fried chicken and it was outstanding. The baked breads that come out on the table complimentary are a nice touch. The service was good and everyone really friendly. They even had prime rib on the menu for $27, so it sorta has it all. That sounded good but I wasn’t very hungry for that much food. I’d definitely go back, I just think the smoked chicken was an anomaly.
Nice place but… Great place , great atmosphere, and I’m sure the food would have been great too but, it took a long time to get our food and when it came out it was luke warm.. We had a new waiter, and I think he may have forgot about our food tasted like it sat around for a while.. 🙁 oh well, this is Galveston… Island life ..
