Nothing special. Like any other Hibachi restaurant we had been to before. We had a reservation at 7:30. At 8:20, while a quarter of my wine glass was …

Next to an Animal Hospital…ijs. Ate there because my friend wanted me to. It was pretty good sushi but had a hard time getting over them sharing a building with an animal hospital. Probably won’t eat there again… also, pretty expensive.
Best Value Restaurant in Galveston!. I have been to a lot of restaurants in the Galveston area when i go down to the beach but none have been up to par. When i went to Yamato, the people were extremely nice and the chefs were very entertaining. My food was as good as the environment that i was in.I am going to go to Yamato every time I go down to Galveston. It is truly a gem in the area.
Pretty Good. Spent the week in Galveston on vacation and wanted to try out some sushi. This place was top reviewed on this site and lived up to the high rating. The wife and I had three rolls, and our favorite was a crawfish roll (I can’t remember the name). There was a previous reviewer who went on and on about the vet office next door in his review of this place leading us to believe we’d have to dodge animal messes on your way to the front door. True, there is a veternarian office next door, but as it turns out, the parking lot is perfectly clean. Dodged a bullet there, I guess.
Best Hibachi in Galveston. Absolutely delicious! We wanted to order sushi, but the hostess failed to understand that and sat us at the hibachi. So, we ordered both. The grouper shush roll was good, but it use to be offered as a crunchy roll that was much better. Steak & Shrimp with fried rice was terrific, and definitely enough to share.
Disappointing. Biggest problem was dodging landmines in the parking lot. This place is adjacent to a vet’s office. Odd.So on the way out I had to step around several piles of dog crap before getting into my car.The service was good. My boyfriend liked the sushi. (I thought it was just as good as Kroger’s sushi on SeaWall Blvd) Secondly, I ordered fried noodles with vegetables. The server said get the chicken and shrimp too because it’s the same price. What I got was a $19 bowl of noodle soup (the wrong kind of noodle) which had slices of imitation crab (I think) in it. So thumbs up for him, thumbs down for me. Overpriced but friendly.
Love it. We have been going to Yamato since ’05 and it’s the best sushi in the Houston area. Always fresh. The grouper rolls are slightly warm… Get them last and they are almost like dessert. The oyster hand rolls are a must-eat. The staff is super friendly and always glad to see you.
