Unforgivable Mole!. Mole is a wonderful and very flavorful Mexican sauce/condiment; however, no one would ever know that by ordering it at Sierra’s. The mole is clearly from a jar as it is gritty/grainy. I could make this at home, in fact I do, and I add things to my liking and mine tastes better (to me). That is my biggest complaint and the main reason for the unfavorable rating and this review. If you have never had mole, and want something quick and cheap, go for it, maybe it will prompt you go out and find some that actually tastes good. For what it’s worth, Sierra’s is not as bad as El Patron’s.I will go ahead and say there are some things that are good, especially when price is taken into account. The tacos are good due to the flavor of the meat, I’ve always ordered pork and its always tasted good. It is more difficult to ruin eggs and bacon; therefore, the breakfast tacos are not bad either, I’ve gone a few times and have not complaints, but then all the breakfast tacos I’ve had around Georgetown tasted just fine. Unfortunately when ordering plates the rice is always clumpy and the beans do not have much flavor (I always order charra beans, I’ve not had the refried). These things, and the unforgivable mole set me over the edge and I had to write this review.
This is not right…. We recently did some renovation work on the restaurant and I thought I would share a few words with the general public about this restaurant. I won’t speak about the food, you can judge that for yourself, in my opinion its so so…almost every Mexican restaurant in town is the same. The owner of this restaurant took our company sign along with tools, my RayBan’s, spare materials…ect and threw everything in the trash, before we could trash out. Previously we had no altercations much less did we even speak. The owner Luis is from Mexico and speaks no English that I know of so we rarely communicated. Then today I go out and see my things in the trash pile. When asked about this he told me that our job was done so the sign and everything went to the trash. Then he walked away and told me to leave now. The problem is that he does not own the building or the land only the business so he had no right to make that call. I’m an extremely fair individual, I am not just a business owner but a minister as well. The owner of the property is an elder at my church and also a fair man, he offered to replace our sign just to keep the peace. The question you have to ask yourself if you are thinking of bringing your patronage here. Do you really want to bring your business to someone like this?
Surprisingly good!. This is a small, very informal place, but the service was excellent and the food quite good. The salsa was fresh, with a nice bite to it. We had the fajitas mexicana for two (as opposed to the regular fajitas) and were very pleased. They were significantly spicier than most fajitas with an excellent flavor. The guac and pico were good and the charro beans especially good. Will definitely be returning soon.
