We eat here every time we send someone off to the airport! Hyatt has the best menus for kids. Mine love the petit filet mignon and the grilled fish for just $8.95! Posole soup is awesome for cold days. Otherwise, salads and burgers for us. Drinks are good too!! Decent wine list with lots of global selections. ittybittyfoodies.com
Good Food and Excellent Service With High Prices. We were to meet with family at the airport Grand Hyatt and have dinner. Upon entering the Grand Hyatt we quickly determine it was not all that grand as the lobby looks more old Europeanist that a modern day America hotel. We were looking got the dining that was available and found that all the dining at this terminal was behind gate security and unless we had an airplane ticket we would have to eat at the Grand Hotel. The hotel eating places are on the same floor as the lobby and upon entering that area you will find the Sushi Bar not your right. Very small. And just beyond that on the same side is the Moka Bar. Directly across form that are is the Grand Met lounge and beyond that the sit down restaurant, the Grand Met and the kitchen. The lounge serves sandwiches and drinks and the full menu was available in the grand Met.We had a p[arty of seven and there were only tables for up to six. The staff seemed confused at our request and offered to put an extra chair at the table for six. There would have been no room for the food and the seating would have been awkward. The staff did not seem to know what to do. There was a vacant table for eight in a separate adjoining room, however the waiter said that was only by reservation. One of the persons in our group suggested that they put two tables together and that way we could get seven seated. That worked out well although the staff still seemed confused. Now they had an extra chair to deal with.We were presented a large and very heavy back lighted menu that displayed the starters and entrees. There was a limited selection and the prices reflected on the right side of the page were certainly airport or New York City prices. Since we were a captive group it was time to order and eat or dont eat.The group ordered several items form the menu starting with two different soups, the Yukon Gold Potato Leek Soup and the Roasted Chicken Tortilla Soup. Both came with a large bowl which contained a few chips. To serve the soups a waitress appeared with a tea kettle filled with the warm (not hot) soup and poured that over the chips. Have not had that experience since we were traveling on a train form Hong Kong to Beijing about 20 years ago and went to the ding car where were presented a large bowl filled with noodles. A short time later a your girl came by with a kettle of hot water which she poured over the noodles. So you see, not much has changed in twenty years. The soup was excellent but not worth the high price.Others in the party ordered the Roasted Organic Pasture Chicken with Homestead Gristmill Grits, greens and mushrooms. Dont you just love how the chef comes up with these long and interesting entre titles. Then there was the Pan Roasted Mero Sea Bass with butternut squash, shiitake mushrooms and soy mirn broth. Another in the party ordered the halibut and frankly I have forgotten the correct name displayed on the menu.Other items on the menu which we did not order were the 16 oz rib eye for $60.00 and the 12 oz strip loin for $56.00. Van you image going to the airport for a steak?Ewe also had a caesar salad which was presented very well, it looked like a picture from Food and Wine. Not much salad but it looked great, as the prepared had managed to stick a few lettuce leaves just right so that the display and presentation looked great. Some finished the meal with a slice ($9.00) of carrot cake. We all decided again coffee or after dinner drinks as the bill was already skyrocketing upward. The service was very good, as was the taste of the food and when you are a captive group you have little choice other than eat in this venue. The prices are way too high, but then this is an airport location. The dining area certainly does not reflect a sitting for a high class dining room and is in fact chrome and glass that one find in most modern buildings and one would have to say almost austere. The negatives are not so much for the hotel and restaurant but the fact that you cannot ready go to another restaurant unless you want to leave the airport.
