  • Great Beer Now!

Where do you go for food and drink when you stay at a hotel? Its nice to venture into the local area in search of unique eats and drinks, but its much more convenient to get your sustenance using the hotels own food service. That convenience led my family and me to The Sportsmans Club, located inside Embassy Suites in Grapevine, near the Dallas airport. The Sportsmans Club serves American food and while nothing stands out as exceptional, the food was still good overall. We ordered such items as loaded nachos, burgers, and quesadillas and found them all good and priced fairly. Again, nothing here stands out as excellent, but everything seemed good to me and my wife and kids. The Sportsmans Club is a sports- oriented establishment with about 15 or so televisions, included four large screens for sports viewing. The screens are positioned so that at least one is within view no matter where you sit. They must subscribe to special cable sports networks because I saw a very wide variety of sports when I was here- much more than you would find using regular cable television.Probably the greatest letdown at The Sportsmans Club was the beer selection. They have about eight beers on draft and approximately twelve more in bottles, but there are no Dallas- brewed beers available. I was in disbelief when I first looked at the menu and had to ask the wait staff to confirm. Hotel bars located near airports almost always offer at least one local beer so that tourists can get a taste of the area, but The Sportsmans Club offers only nationally known brands.Hotel bars and restaurants are nice for convenience sake and if youre staying at the Embassy Suites Dallas Airport, The Sportsmans Club is a place worth checking out. Its nothing incredible and the management really needs to improve the beer selection by adding something from Deep Ellum, Rahr & Sons, or some other local brewery. But it does have some good things to offer and the prices arent bad at all, especially for a hotel bar and grill. greatbeernow.com

They tipped themselves!!!!. Bought a couple of beers, then left a $2.00 tip for a $9.00 tab. I looked at my statement noticed they weren’t happy with the tip so they added another $3.00 on my tab. In my book theyre thieves. $3.00 isn’t a lot but multiply by a lot of customers it can mak a nice day. Please watch your tab or just don’t eat there.
