It’s Like A Black Eyed Pea. For some reason we think of the Black Eyed Pea with these places. The rolls and butter really start things off right.Fried pickles are very good esp with the sauce. Most entrees are good, some more so than others. We have eaten here maybe a dozen times.Blackberry Cobbler for dessert has been our favorite so far.

In town for business and decided to have dinner here. The waitress seemed as though she had much better things to do with her time (her tip reflected this). My tea glass sat empty more than half our meal. Service was extremely slow.

Get Real. The rolls here are dry, cold and overcooked. Everytime. Go to Texas Roadhouse to see how the rolls should be. Was just there at 4:00, just one or two other parties in the restaurant. And they still couldn’t serve fresh, warm rolls! The chicken fried steak had the best batter I’ve ever had at this location (usually cooked too fast, slightly scorched but undercooked), but the steak itself was okay as usual. The brocolli rice casserole used to be inconsistent but pretty good, but now they make it with canned cheese sauce instead of cheddar. Yuck. The Caesar side salad was great with unusually fresh lettuce. And the baked potato would have been epic if it weren’t a little old and almost too hard to eat.I’ve lived near this restaurant for 15 years and it’s never been good, but I like Cotton Patch’s menu and sometimes it’s pretty good (usually edible to okay). Except for the salad entrees, which I’ve had really good luck with. They could at least TRY to serve fresh rolls!

They Had Us at the Rolls and Butter and the Fried Pickles. This is a good place to eat.We have eaten here several times over the years but have never left a review so here it is.The atmosphere of the place does vary with how crowded and noisy it is and the service but isn’t that anyplace. Mostly, it has been good. The food has never been bad any time we have gone, in fact, it is always a place we look forward to visiting.Have not tried everything on the menu but we can vouch for several things:Chicken & Dumplings and Chicken Fried Steak and Catfish are all good choices. The Bacon Cheeseburger, Taco Salad and Vegetable Platter (really all of the vegetables) are as well. The rolls and butter before the meals are exceptional. This last visit we tried the Fried Pickles. They are slices and have great batter and are served with ranch and another side of honey mustard. These are now the best slices we have ever had and the honey mustard was a sauce we have never dipped a fried pickle in before but it worked great. Also this time got the new Herb grilled garlic butter shrimp on a bed of rice and it was mouth watering.Finished off the whole meal with Blackberry Cobbler and some of Memaw’s Banana Pudding and both were lick the plate good. They do have diet dr pepper. Our service this visit was exceptional.JG score of 5.5 (+2 for food, 0 for atmosphere, +1 for price, +1 for diet dr pepper, +0.5 for service and +1 for we will return)

Chicken & Dumplings . . . um, um good!. I usually always have a pleasant at experience at the Patch. There was a period of time I stayed away for several years. My wife and I gave it a second chance and glad we did. The food is prepared fresh and most of the plates I’ve had are good. The chicken & dumplings are just like Mama made and the service is always top notch. They take care of you at the Cotton Patch. A great place to take the family for good, country cookin.

Wasn’t really all that, just plain. My waiter was carring her baby in one arm and a tray of food in the other. Also was walking in and out of the kitchen. She could have slipped or tripped and hurt herself and the baby.

What’s Not To Like. This place is easy to get to, parking is pretty good, the chicken fried steak is out of this world good. The fried mushrooms are excellent and the few side dishes I have tried have all been good. The prices fit the quality of the food, the service is second to none, but I do not like it when the tables are so close together. The noise level can get a bit high as well, but if you go on Monday about 4 p.m. or 1600 hours if you prefer, you will be one of the few there at at that time. You can eat in peace, get great food, better service, and get out by the time the 5 p.m. crowd starts to arrive. I do eat here quite often but to be honest, I only eat the chicken fried steak as that is my favorite at the Cotton Patch Cafe. 04/28/2018A friend and I ate here yesterday afternoon around 2:45. This time I tried the meatloaf and it was great. Matter of fact, we both had the meatloaf. I have to get fried mushrooms when I am in the Cotton Patch, as they are great. The main reason for this update is to say a word about one of the best waitresses I have encountered in a long time. i must apologize to her for not getting her name, but the ticket showed Varnysha S. So here is to the best in a long time.
