I was sitting in the Taco Bell drive-thru thinking how I really didn’t want Taco Bell again when I looked across and there was El Pollo Regio. I ordered the Torta Regio with beef and OMG. It is wonderful and I honestly could have fed two people on the amount of food I got. It was phenomenal and I can say you have a new happy customer!!

Awesome, affordable, A+. We have been a huge fan of the Pollo Regio chain for over 4 years, ever since we discovered it while living in Dallas. The food is consistently outstanding, unique, and unbeatable for the price. How awesome is it to feed a family of 3 for $13-14?! We’ve lived in Longview for 4 months now and were ecstatic to find out one was opening here. Now a few months old, I hope they have found success in giving East Texas a taste of fantastic Monterrey-style tacos. Always order the number 1 with extra green sauce… we’re so happy with it, we’ve never ordered anything else. Pollo Regio can count on us for business at least weekly!

El pollo regio blows all the other chicken restaurants away. The coal fired chicken has so much flavor and is never dull or dry. I especially enjoyed the papa regio, a large baked potato filled with carne asada as it is big enough to fill up anyone and extremely tasty. The salsas to go with it are made fresh and have the right amount of kick. Also, the burger is huge (1/2 pound cooked I think) and comes with spicy guac and ham, two delicious additions not traditionally found in the dull burgers you find at other places. Overall this restaurant is great and I will be going back all the time!!!

Great Experience. Pollo Regio was the best grilled chicken restaurant I have ever eaten at. I have never left hungry, and I always go with a large appetite. The generous portions and low cost make this the perfect family restaurant for any budget. I definitely recommend the grilled chicken, but I have also tried the burger, tacos, and tostada and they are all delicious. The burger is huge (something like 3/4lb. before cooking, and the taco meals include 3-4 tacos, rice, and beans which make very nice meals. Overall, the restuarant is great and I will continue to return often.12 Jun, 2011Delicious and healthy..yum-o. My visits to el pollo regio have always been delightful. Their food is flavorful, delicious, and healthy. The grilled chicken is definitely their specialty and they do it well. The seasoning on the chicken is to die for and the rice is always flavorful and not dry like most places. The beans have chorizo, pork and a special blend of spices. The salsas are homemade and one of a kind. The food is definitely more than enough for a NORMAL SIZE PERSON and their beef isn’t made of soy unlike other establishments. For example: the lunch special is half a chicken, rice, beans, tortillas, salsa, and a soft drink for $6.99, nothing can beat that price. Ive never heard of any quick service restaurant having silverware so it really did not bother me to eat with plasticware. I will be going back often and give it 5 stars.

Pollo Regio Bomb. The place needs some serious work to be acceptable to most diners as a dine in experience. It needs to be remodeled badly. Normally when a new chain restaurant opens they at least do a remodel on the existing structure if not doing a complete rebuild. Not so for Pollo Regio! *L* It was also dirty looking although it didn’t seem really dirty just old and run down. The Chicken dishes were good but most of the other dishes were odd tasting. Overall nothing I would write home about. They do serve very authenic Mexican street food but since we weren’t on the street it would have been nice to get something besides plastic forks and spoons and paper plates. I do not like paper plates. I’ll accept plastic plates and decent heavy plastic wares at fast food restaurants but not the cheapest things you can get from the dollar store. If you order the Chicken dishes you will get plenty of food for the price but any of the other dishes were disappointing. Patric found he was still hungry after eating one of their beef taco dinners which consisted of just three tacos—-nothing else. With my Chicken dinner, I got half a chicken, beans, rice and tortillas with some of the expected Mexican condiments. I didn’t care for the salsa and the chips were stale. The green sauce was okay but I’ve had much better. My half chicken came wrapped up in white butcher paper just like you’d get it on the street in Mexico. But ,like I said, we weren’t in Mexico and we weren’t on the street so it just seemed a little tacky. Hmmmm Tacky is a good word for the whole place. I think if you are getting the food to take home then go with the chicken meals and you’ll be okay. But I can’t recommend dining in unless you are just desperate. Go next door to taco bell at least you know what your getting there. I give Pollo Regio a 2 stars out of 5 stars and that’s only because the chicken was good. We will not be going back anytime soon unless they decide to rebuild, remodel or just start over.

Really good chicken. Excellent chicken. The chicken tacos are a bit strange but the chicken with sides is awesome. The beans are really good. With the chicken they give you tortillas and some fantastic creamy green sauce. Unique smokey chicken and generous portions – really good.
