Heard tons about Frenchy’s but the ghetto manager on duty made the experience pretty bad …
Honestly? Top Chicken Place in Houston?. Reading reviews about slow service didn’t put me off in my quest for the best fried chicken in Houston and it was slow. I ordered fried chicken breast which was stingy meat & extremely greasy. I can’t believe Frenchy’s has such rating in the Houston Press. It was NOT edible I ate recently in my children’s school cafeteria and the fried chicken was far superior to Frenchy’s! Also I order the medium collard greens assuming it would be enough for 2…it was adequate for one serving. Muffins were about 1 inch tall…did they forget the baking powder?

Frenchy’s has JUMPED THE SHARK!!!. Run by half wits and morons who cannot make the most basic of change from cash, much less get your order correct. Used to ROCK IT HARD and now hardly rocks at all. Food is usually cool if not cold and service is slow if you have anything to do in say the next week or so. Used to drive from up to an hour away to get here but forget it now. Even the one is the Ghetto HEB up the street sucks now too. When you make he Col or Popeyes look good, you need to hang it up. Go to the chinese joint across the way and get some chop-socky wings – they are even better than Frenchys…Vegas
Why is Frenchy’s Wings So Small?. I am 43 and have been eating since a child. Recently, I went to Frenchy’s with some out of town family members and noticed the soda with the King Special was a small. I asked the cashier and she said they changed it in July 09 from medium to small. Years ago Frenchy’s would give a pepper and a roll with order. Now you have to pay for it. The thing that has outraged me the most is the minature size wings they serve. Frenchy’s is rasing prices and steady cutting back on their food. The greens were horrible and have not tasty. My out of town family use to go to Frenchy’s whenever they travel to Houston. Upon their last visit there, they stated the will no longer eat there because the chicken wings were so small, I agreed. I will no longer eat at Frenchy’s because you don’t get your money’s worth. Trust me when I say, This Is It chicken is the best over Frenchy’s anyday. I can get a whole soul food dinner for the same price as the BS Frenchy’s is selling. My Frenchy’s ERA has ended!
Frenchy’s is amazing chicken. Though the interior leaves a lot to be desired and you will have to wait, the trials to get it only prove that all good things comes to those wait.
