Good solid choice for well prepared Chinese cuisine. Old school, done well.
Great Food. I’ll preface this by saying I’m from Boston where any Chinese restaurant would top anything I have had in Texas. That’s because its usually Chinese-Catonese with a nice amount of MSG…mmmm. But I digress. The closest thing i have seen to great Chiinese food is Empress of China. Try the Chow Mein or Pork Fried Rice. Even better, order the Shrimp Egg Foo Young (specify brown sauce). The crab rangoon can be a bit rubbery but the Hot and Sour soup is spot on. For a quick meal thats not ridiculously expensive this is the place. Skip the buffet where you have to convince yourself the money you saved makes up for the dogfood you’re consuming.
Downward slide. Empress of China served the best Chinese food in Irving for a long time, but it has declined sharply in recent years. I usually order delivery, but it was my most recent visit to the dining room that has me looking for a new Chinese restaurant. I will say that the vegetables seemed fresh, but the meat was disgusting. The chicken was like rawhide and the shrimp was tough and flavorless. It makes me sad to say it, but the experience was bad enough to turn me away for good.
Can’t leave a gift.. I live out of state, and wanted to leave a gift note for a friend and her family because she is not well. Person who answered the phone didn’t understand I wanted to leave a tab.

Chinese at it’s BEST. Forget those Chinese buffets, if you want real, and REAL GOOD, Chinese food with excellent service. . You want to go to the Empress of China in Irving. It’s my absolute favorite place to go out to eat. It’s clean, relatively quiet, nice atmosphere. Can go dressed up or dressed down. Eat in or Carry out! Just whatever you do. . . Try it!
Great food. Best Chinese food in North TX. Service is great, Wanton soup is awsome. I go twice a month an travel 30 min to get there
