Awesome cooking just like my grandmas!. I love eating here! Sylvia Mae welcomes you with open arms and her food is awesome! Chicken fried steak, mash tators, fried okra, greens and the most awesome banana pudding! Yummy!
I’d wait in line for an hour for her oxtails, greens, yams, peas and Mac and cheese.
Delicious food, freshly cooked to order at low prices. Portions are huge and service friendly.
Chicken fried steak was tender and flavorful. The greens were delicious and the cream potatoes just right! Definitely worth coming back!
Special place. Felt like we were in Sylvia Mae’s home. Her food was like my Grandmother would have cooked out of her garden 50 yeas ago – purple hill peas, mashed potatoes, collard greens. Perfect with the hot water corn cakes, chicken fried steak and chicken. Did I mention the Italian Cream cake – mummm. Setting is simple but you will know you have experienced the best of East Texas soul food. Enjoy.
Great food, I’m just sorry I didn’t come on Tuesday to get the Chicken & Dumplings. I hear it on good authority that the liver and onions is god as well. I can speak on that great chicken fried steak and greens I had today. Well worth the trouble to find this jewel in Jacksonville.
