French food on the cheap. Texas is known for BBQ, brisket, Tex-Mex, and the occasional German food. When it comes to French cuisine, one usually has to go to expensive restaurants in urban city centers… and then there is La Madeleine. This chain of French – American restaurants offers moderately priced food, cooked fresh, and served in an atmosphere that mixes the feel of a coffeehouse with that of a buffet. The place is essentially three restaurants in one. Up front is a French bakery serving standard items such as fruit tarts, parfaits, cheesecakes, etc.. After this is a buffet featuring soups, salads, quiches, cold sandwiches and some other dishes. Last is the kitchen from which one can order bigger items such as hot sandwiches, french toast, pastas, etc… The restaurant has free wi-fi, the service is fast, and the food is good.
Pleasant food, chain atmosphere. I enjoy La Madeleine – it’s reliable and pleasant food if unexciting. It looks and feels like a chain. It’s not in any way authentically French, though – there are no dogs, nobody is smoking and the staff are friendly and polite!
It tastes pre-made and not fresh. Won’t go back.
Best French Dip in town. I’ve only visited La Madeleine a couple of times and can’t comment on much of the menu, but the Fench Dip was amazing. Very good roast beef on very warm, very fresh, and very good french bread.
Clasic little spot. La Madeline is a very consistent chain, and you always know what to expect. The fruit tarts are amazing, as well as the baguettes. You can get deserts by the single portion size, or the whole cake. I personally enjoy their potato soup and their potato galletts. The strawberry romanoff is also really good!
Excellent!. Loved the onion soup and grilled chicken andwich. Apple strudel pastry was outstanding.
Solid. This restaurant is solid. I enjoy the quality of the French Coffee the ingredients in their food. They also serve dinner dishes that pair well with the wine selection offered.
