Honestly, not that great. The tacos are the same price as Torchy’s, but you don’t get as much food or as high a quality. The breakfast tacos were decent, and the Apollo a la Parilla taco was pretty good, but there were large chunks of turkey bone left in the Guajolote en mole, and the tortillas are subpar.Neither the coffee nor the tamarind agua were satisfactory. Honestly, I would not return.

About 20 different options and you order tacos individually so I’m working through the menu…Good value as 2 tacos was a full lunch for me. Don’t let the parking lot fool you because it is a little crowded, but inside there is a steady stream of patrons and service moves pretty quickly!! Can’t wait to work through the remaining flavors…including breakfast
We had visited the Papalotes off Lamar n food was good. They recently established another restaurant on my side of town. Tried it for the first time. I was not impressed. Two more customers came in after us and they were served before us. Our order was then given to another. Which I can understand, cuz no one is perfect. We ordered a total of 4 tacos. I took pics. You decide if our meal was worth the $14.As for the food for some reason not as tasty as the food off Lamar location. As I stated I was not impressed. The manager didn’t seem too concern about us as customers, I guess he/she decided we weren’t worth their while, they never came over to offer some sort of explanation. So one reason for thelow rating. There are better establishments that offer tastier tacos and that are worth the price. For example JJ’s BBQ in Cedar Park. They don’t skimp on the ingredients.
Overall, I think the price was high for what you get. I had a carnitas taco on corn tortillas and an order of chile con queso. Flavors were not bad, but not stand out good either. Tortillas were yellow corn and like you could buy from any store. Same for the chips that you come to expect from many places in/around Austin vs. going down to the Valley and having fresh chips. It would be nice to have a small option for queso as it was too much for me eating alone and went to waste. I would recommend going down to Mi Tradicin bakery further down 183 as a better option.
It seems like it took much longer than it should have for the finish out construction to end and for Papalote to actually open…but all that is forgotten now. You order at the counter over looking the kitchen and your food is brought out to you. The space is clean and fresh feeling which fits the food. I have had twelve different styles of tacos here and have liked all of them. The ingredients seem to be fresh and the menu allows for anyone to find several options that they would like. The tortillas, both flour and corn, are authentic homemade delights. They would have a 4.5 if I could order a beer to enjoy with my tinga de res, alambres or tacos al pastor! Btw: my 4 year old son loves their egg, cheese and bacon flour tortilla breakfast taco (and I do, too!)
