I have never been been to this location I tried the chile verde burger and wow it was tasty! I was surprised at all of the menu choices too – will plan to go back! It’s not just pizza any more!

Beer GREAT, food bleh! …trying (and not succeeding) to make a chain feel like a small trendy pub. Go for a beer or two, skip the Applebee’s-TGI Friday’s-Chili’s quality food.

Name a food and drink combination that naturally goes together and pizza and beer are likely the first things that come to mind. The right beer paired with the right pizza elevates the experience to new levels but, unfortunately, most eateries do not have the large selection of pizza and beer necessary to find this perfect match. One restaurant that does satisfy both needs is Old Chicago Pizza and Taproom, a newer restaurant to the Houston area. True to its name, Old Chicago Pizza and Taproom is a nice place to visit for pizza pie and fine brew. Pizza is the specialty, but that is by no means the only food they serve. There are appetizers, sandwiches, salads, calzones, etc. They also have a full bar, but the beer taps take center stage at this restaurant with a large selection that includes both bottles and draft options. With the food, many who dine here will go straight for the pizza. I wasnt in a pizza mood when I visited for the first time, so I went with the Cajun Chicken sandwich and a side of fries. The addition of sausage and other toppings made for an interesting contrast in taste and the sandwich was quite large. Coupled with my appetizer and my beer, I left feeling quite full but also satisfied. Old Chicago Pizza and Taproom is a family- friendly place to dine and my kids seemed to like the experience. One ordered macaroni and cheese from the kids menu and gave it a quick thumbs- up. The other ordered a pizza and while I didnt try it, I did find it interesting in appearance and my kid did like it overall. The wife decided to nibble on portions of everyones food and she liked what she discovered. As for the beer, I found the selection excellent and I was very happy to discover multiple beers that I hadnt tried before. They rotate the taps periodically so there is always something new to try. They will even serve you a sample if youre not sure about a specific brand or style. The beer, alone, is reason enough to pay a visit to Old Chicago Pizza and Taproom and its reason enough to keep me coming back. This Old Chicago Pizza and Taproom location has a smaller interior than I expected, but they do have a nice outdoor patio, perfect when the weather is nice. The atmosphere is geared toward sports viewing and there are ample television sets to almost ensure the game of your choosing is broadcast on one of them. Add everything up and you have a restaurant suitable for the family and one that is bound to make its way into my familys monthly restaurant dining rotation. greatbeernow.com
