Ava’s caribbean restaurant at 2901 W Stan Schluter Loop is a cut above the rest, the Oxtail is my favorite, it reminds me of my Jamaican grandma cooking. The Jerk chicken is absolutely fantastic the spice and flavor is amazing.

Don’t go unless you are a person of color. I am white. Went with a latino friend for lunch. Although we made it obvious we were going to eat lunch there, we were given our order in to go boxes (no one else was given to go boxes). We sat a table and no one sat on the same side of the room as us. In fact, a table of people actually got up and moved away from us. As we tried to eat out lunch in the now quiet restaurant, people who worked there and the other diners just glared at us. We wolfed down our food and left without finishing. Never, ever, ever again! To top it off, the food was fair
