Yeah – unfortunately it’s a roll of the dice on the experience you will have. Sunday Brunch is my favorite reason to come.
Went today with a party of six for Mother’s Day. We made advance reservations for noon. Had no problem with waiting a few minutes for the staff to get us a table setup. But with advance reservations, one does not expect to be stuck in a back room with no view where the staff is traipsing through. We asked to be moved and ended up on the patio. Ended up setting up our own umbrellas to get some shade. Now for real disappointment. At only noon, they were already out of one of the appetizer choices (smoked salmon). The waiter tried to make a comment about how he doesn’t control how much fish is caught in the mornings. But, uh, no, smoked salmon is not caught that morning. And of course, where do we fish for salmon in Houston? The alternate appetizer was a shrimp something that was odd. My salad was not fresh. The spinach and cucumber were dry and crusty looking. My entree was over cooked mahi mahi. The edges were hard and dry. The stuffing was a mix of over sauted peppers and crab. Fail. He kept telling us we were getting his ‘reserve’ pitcher of mimosas because they were running out of champagne. What?? And finally, my dessert choice (apple strudel) was gone too. Poor planning for a holiday. Sad food. And to top it off you put a 20% gratuity on the bill. Will not go back.

And while I prefer Maryland-style crab cakes, Hanzee’s Cakes (salmon & crab) are a signature appetiser here. Filet mignon is good quality and good size too. Shrimp Bimini proved a bit heavy–next time I’ll try fish like red snapper. Sides like blanched garlicky fresh green beans and spicy roasted potatoes are outstanding.Hans, the affable owner, is from Germany so, in addition to fresh Gulf Coast seafood, there are menu items that reflect his eastern European roots.This website suggests that entrees here run $10-15. On average, it’s more expensive than that. But it’s worth it–Sundance is the complete package!
This is my first time at this restaurant and I am very pleasantly surprised. The food was excellent. The ribs were falling off the bone and the shrimp was wonderful. Atmosphere is very nice and romantic overlooking the marina. All in all I’m very pleased with Sundance. I will definitely come back
Worst Service Ever!!. Went there for brunch on Sunday. Complete chaos! Bad service, bad food and bad management. Will never go back.
Great location overlooking the marina. Good food, and a helpful staff. The outdoor deck is a great place to have lunch on a sunny afternoon.
