Really Nice Folks, Good Food. My family and I have been frequenting this place for many years and we always enjoy it. They have some of the best Guacamole I’ve ever eaten anywhere. Their salsa is however in my opinion over processed a bit since the tomatoes appear to have the color and texture of watermelon but it tastes good and that’s the bottom line. They’ll even adjust the level of heat to suit the table, you don’t often get that. I love the Chicken Fried Steak either on a sandwich or on the plate. The Fried Catfish absolutely ROCKS and is a Friday favorite for me and my father-in-law. The Burgers and Mexican Plate are also big family favorites. The staff is always friendly, engaging and polite. The food comes out of the kitchen like a rocket, I’ve never had to wait for anything longer than 5-10 minutes after ordering. I never have to wait for a refill on Iced Tea either and you can’t say that for very many places. Though it’s not the best Mexican restaurant around it’s far, far from the worst by a long stretch. Another good point is the prices; they are very affordable on any budget. Now that the road project is finished it’s once again easy to get in and out of their parking lot so if you haven’t been in a while give them a try and rediscover the Hi Way Cafe; it’s a Liberty Hill institution.
Down right good food. I have been going to the Hi Way Cafe for about 20 years, and often multiple times per week. They consistently have good Mexican food at a reasonable price. You won’t find any better guacamole anywhere, in my opinion. It is not fancy, but that’s not why I go to a restaurant. Occasionally, the shells for the taco salad, or guacamole is not as fresh and crisp as I’d like, but that’s the only negative experience I’ve had over the years.
