I wish they would bring back the original salsa Trio! We always ate all 3 of them but now by the time we get a refill our food is out. We still eat it with our meal though
NIce place for a drink. Abuelos is a nice place for a drink after work. As for the food, it’s similar to Mexican food you get at Applebee’s.
Lubbock! Revolt! Abuelo’s has changed how they serve their salsa trio and you’re not gonna like it………!!!!!!
One small step above Taco Bell quality. Shame because I love the big windows overlooking the patio. I wouldn’t even hang out for cocktails though because the young lady bartender could care less about waiting on anybody and would rather spend her time hiding out of sight… I hate having to hunt down my server for a refill.
What a turn around.. Abuelos had sunk badly. I had quit going, however, I was with a group of friends and asked to go Abuelos. Hesitant, I agreed. I was surprised, in a good way. The service was good and the food has returned to it’s former glory. They now serve three salsa’s. A fresh green tropicial type salsa, regular and fresh tasting red salsa and a hotter version red salsa with the chips at the first of the meal. The food was fresh tatsting, well prepared and executed. Everyone was happy with their experience. Since going that night with friends I have been back about 6 times. I have not been disappointed. Another thing I really enjoy is the diverse selections of food. From regular Tex Mex to the true offerings of Mexico, like fish dishes. There has been a change for the better here. Try it again.
No Bueno!. Used to be good now it tastes like cheap canned cat food.
Always a good decision for lunch or dinner. I always love me some Abuelo’s. I will say the quality of the restaurant itself has gone down a bit in the last 5-7 years. Servers tend to look a bit sloppier and not as clean pressed as they used to. (I know it used to be a big deal there). I don’t think the quality in the food has changed at all that’s for sure! I just think a few small adjustments would bring it back to where it used to be. But either way always a great place to go 5 years ago this was a 9 out of a 10 place, now it’s around a 7. Still very good!
