Lost my appetite due to uncleanliness. Napkins, food and mold between my booth and wall. Lettuce (iceberg) at the salad bar was browning on the edges. Excellent, pleasant service.
Very Nice. Great bar, very good food and professional service. Under new management for past few months, this place has really improved…. wasn’t bad before…. now it’s great. Went on a Thursday night, 4 of us. Place was busy. We were greeted quickly, sat at a nice table and served promptly. Good drink pours, great salad bar, great steaks. Cattle Baron is a solid bet.
Getting Better!. We tried Cattle Baron after swearing we never would again. Apparently there is a new manager, Rick, and he’s terrific! We watched him greet guests, work with the cooks, and make sure the food was right before it got out to the tables. He even made the effort to greet us at our table to make sure we were happy with our plates. I had the filet and while it was cooked correctly, I would have liked a little more seasoning or something. The texture was really good, but it just needed something. My husband ordered the biggest prime rib and we were surprised that the cooking temperature was consistent on that, too! The baked potatoes are what you would expect. The highlight was the green chile won tons and sauteed mushrooms. The salad bar looks so much better than it used to! That was the biggest surprise! It was clean and well stocked with a lot of variety. The soups were good. We didn’t come to Cattle Baron for soup, but its nice to have options. Our server was very friendly and we felt that the pace of the meal was actually perfect. The restaurant looks A LOT cleaner than it did the last time we were in about 2 years ago. Definitely worth a second chance!
One of the beat places in Lubbock to eat I do have to say the one in protales is way better tough I love their mushrooms and the bread is wonderful
Bad Service. My husband and i went to cattle baron on Sunday for lunch, we ordered sauted mushrooms for an appetizer. i had salad bar and he ordered a steak plus salad bar. We both went to salad bar and were done eating it when mushrooms were brought, 1 hour later still had not rceived the steak. the waitress apologized and said she didnt know what was going on in the kitchen because orders were backed up and manager was now helping . meanwhile 2 other tables were served that came after we did. My husband went to speak to manager and tell him of the problem . an apology was given and told steak would be free. My husband told him to make it to go as he was no longer hungary, 10 minutes later steak was brough in plastic bag as they were ‘ out ‘of to go boxes. waitress was . I told was this was ridiculou and she turned and walked off. Dont plan on ever going back…
Bad manager, good bread when it’s fresh .. We use to like to go to cattle baron because it wasn’t busy. Then we realized there was only one good thing we liked to order- rotisserie chicken. Today we both ordered it and 10 minutes later we were told they didn’t have any ready. The server was nice and tried her best but the manager was a joke. He blamed the wait on the server saying she was new and didn’t know it was an hour before they were ready. We ordered two other chicken dishes . The rio pollo was ridiculously spicy and the mashed potatoes were not appetizing . My fianc had the chicken Oscar which was just okay.. It took 20 minutes to get our check because the manager forgot to take off our first order. The manager never came back out and a different waitress brought us our check-again at least 20 minutes after getting the first wrong ticket. We left very frustrated.
Great experience. Food was excellent also waiter was fast and helpful. Also really liked the live music on the patio on Wednesday nights. It feels like Austin.
